bevel grinding on a belt grinder

When you are beveling your knife on a belt grinder are you supposed to track the belt towards the plunge line or does it mater.
 
Running the edge of the belt beyond the edge of the platen tends to "radius" the plunge lines. It rounds them instead of making them square. So the answer is it depends on what you are trying to accomplish.
