So I have some Emerson folders that have some scratches in the flat bevels, I would like to remove them but not sure I can grind them out with my belt sander it’s a 1”x30.

I thought about buying a 400,600,800,1k grit belt kit and trying it but not sure.

My questions are as follows:

Can any one do this for me ?

If I do this on my own any suggestions?

If you do it yourself you are better to do it by hand. Try 400 first with a hard backing. Will this work or too coarse?

no way on a machine, do it by hand as Frank sugests.
Have a good look on youtube of Nick Wheelers hand sanding vids to get an understanding on what to do.
What gritsize to start with depends on the finish of the blade and how deep the scratches are.
Start fine and drop a gritsize it it doesn't do anything.
I've used a EMD stone to remove some scratches post HT, it worked better then sandpaper.
You can get them cheap.
Use the same grit sandpaper after the stone and then use finer sandpaper
