Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

Sounds like a great trip is planned, Paul! I look forward to seeing some pics.
I'll have to look for that PN. I like the Camillus pen knife too. It looks like this one that I just picked up yesterday. Model 22LR-1 from 1992.

- snap.....the very same

First miniature can of whiskey I've encountered. It's mixed but potent at 84 proof. I think I'll save it for a rainy day and enjoy my Tank 7 for now. Cheers.

It's been a while since I've had it, but I remember enjoying that Tank 7.

So I went to a different bottlo abd saw they had a new Coopers variety ...Session Ale ..yum yum i thought and its on special . As I approached the pallet of boxes the word Tropical loomed at me from the logo.
See what youve done Coopers ? I had to buy more kiwi beer. Couple of the all blacks to go with it.

I fell way behind with this thread

Ahhh yes the Sportsman  Only been there once when I did the Transpennine ale trail about 5 years ago. I remember it being a cracking pub and cracking ale!

It's happening here as well. I was at the Brass Castle brewery beer festival in Malton in North Yorkshire last Saturday. Their renowned for their modern craft brews. Tried a 'mango beer', but it wasn't just mango undertones, it was literally pure mango. Absolutely disgusting...

Last night several pints of "Hilltop Brewery Plum Porter 4.7%" at the Roscoe Head pub in Liverpool,
hence the expendable SAK Waiter.

Sorry for the slow reply my friend  I was in Huddersfield yesterday, called in The Corner, Mallinson's new place, as The Sportsman can get a bit rammed on Saturdays

Needham NAAFI Knife 6-6.jpg

This bottle is gone but there is another just like it. An ice cube, some cold water and a shot make a nice evening drink in a rocks glass.
Some sweet stag on this knife by Randy Golden for Stag Saturday.

That's a great-looking knife Gary

Aaaaahhhh now thats more like it. Clean malty goodness at 17$aud for 6 pack .
Aussies tend to deplore "warm flat pommy beer" but the fact is its room or cellar temperature which is fairly cool especially in England. My Grandfather used to say if its too cold you cant taste it. True enough but I still put the Coopers in the freezer and a glass in the fridge. Frosty with ice crystals forming. For beer related hilarity check out VIZ magazine online - The Real Ale Tw*ts.

I drink with beers at home which don't see the inside of the fridge! :D

A little Barley Wine at the mo. Hope everyone has a nice Friday night planned.

That looks tasty :)

Coffee at The Handmade Bakery in the small West Yorkshire town of Slaithwaite

Looks like a good Saturday Jack  I've heard good things about The Corner; hope it lived up to it's reputation :D
My last beer was Blackjack Brewery's Barley Wine. It's absolutely gorgeous! Over £4 for a little bottle but it's worth it
Unlike this one I had last night. A real disappointment. I bought it from the Griffin Brewery shop in Chiswick a couple of years ago and shoved it under the floorboards. I had high hopes for this one but it was really quite bland :thumbsdown: Think I'd rather had a pint of Northern Monk IPA any day :D

It wasn't bad :) ScruffUK had been talking about it for a while, and he finally strong-armed me and ADEE into the door the other week. As it was 11.30am, we just had a half each though! :D

I thought it might have been from Blackjack! :D I'll have to look out for that one :)

That's a real shame :( Great pic though

I've just had a bottle of Bateman's Mocha, which I don't recall having seen before

Thats terrible! Being coerced into a pub like that  I'd never let that happen to me.....:D
Had a bottle of the Bateman's Mocha last autumn in the Waggon and Horses in York. Not...quite...my thing....but then I'm not a huge coffee fan.
Was at the Brass Castle beer festival in Malton a few weeks ago. They had this contraption on the bar that for some reason known only to them infuses beer through anything you choose to put in it. Their particular choice was coffee beans, but apparently you can put anything non-dissolvable in it; from peanuts to carrots...? The bright young thing behind the bar persuaded me to try one of their IPA's that had been infused through these coffee beans.
CRIKEY!!!
It was DISGUSTING!!! :eek::eek::eek::eek:

Unlike this from Fullers. I sometimes find the Russian Imperials a bit heavy but this is fantastic :thumbsup:

I don't know about infusing beer through peanuts, but growing up we'd put salted peanuts in a bottle of Coke or Dr. Pepper (you'd take a few swigs first, add peanuts, and enjoy). It's delicious! :D

I've always found coffee flavored or infused beers hit or miss. Some of them are ok, but others I think, "I'd rather just have a beer that tastes like beer."

Absolutely! I know the Anglo-Saxons used to flavour their ale with all sorts of things but that was for a reason. Now it all seems to be about trying to be "original" or "market leading" or whatever. There's nothing wrong with how beer tastes naturally.
I am though going to have to try that coke and peanut thing... :D
