Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

Interesting JP, I don’t really associate French beers with the IPA style, but I guess most styles are made all over the place now.

Something tells me that Burgindia IPA probably has more of a balanced flavour than the current trend for waaay overhopped beers. How was it?

@PaulS. Pine scented disinfectant is a pretty harsh description, but I have to agree with that verdict for a lot of these double IPAs and the like.:eek:;)

Apologies for my absence from this thread, I'm having a month on the wagon. Here's a pic of my morning cuppa ;)

Well done, mate - are you feelin’ better for it? Hey, I had one of those mugs too! I’d completely forgotten about it until you showed that pic. I can’t even recall what the letter I wrote to 2000AD was about. Man, I used to love that comic! I wonder what happened to that mug? Probably left it at an ex-GFs house, or something!

tmd_87 tmd_87 Nice one Taylor, too. You’ve done well, and that peanut butter oatmeal stout sounds tasty and dangerously breakfasty!

I suppose Goses aren’t really associated with Australia either, but that clean, slightly salty, crisp taste works so well on a baking hot day.

That red is looking great now!
Thank you. It is just the low lighting that gives it that dark red color in this picture. I did dye this knife using scarlet RIT dye. I was trying to get rid of the pink edges that would show especially in the sunlight. It didn’t really absorb that much dye however. It did start to pit the backspring though. I doubt I’ll use RIT dye in the future.

Well, Taylor, I couldn't find the peanut butter beer you posted recently, so I settled for a six-pack of Shiner Bock and this Yorkshire beer. Last time I bought this I bought it for my wife because she likes chocolate. She couldn't handle more than a sip, so she gave it to me and I loved it!

LOL, hey at least you tried!

Man that ol stuff from Yorkshire ain't half bad!

I like to try new things and have a pretty good stick of random stuff. But my regular go to beer is definitely Miller High Life.
Good to have a regular to fall back on. I used to drink Bud a lot, but for just a little more I can get much better beers. Still get Bud at the ballpark/hockey rink. And I like the bottles of Miller High Life for $2.00 a pop at the Texas Chili Parlour in Austin.
Guess my main regular now is Shiner Bock, made here in Texas for about a century.
But variety is good, and I look forward to your posts.
(Hope your newborn is letting you get enough sleep!)

...
I'm no specialist of IPA, I just drank a few and most except Lagunitas (way too bitter for my taste) all were made in France by local breweries.
The Burgindia is unfiltered and much less bitter than Lagunitas, there's a subtle hint of fennel (I would not appreciate a stronger flavor) and it drinks easily.
IMHO this is more of a summer "thirst" beer. For everyday or dinner I prefer the "classic" blonde.

(named Becket because the brewery seats in Sens, North of Burgundy, where the famous Archbishop took refuge.)
