Beverages and Blades - Traditional of Course

LOL...! Jack Black Jack Black - am out of Christmas pressie whisky too

Bought myself some nice Bowmore, matured in sherry casks, which is going down nicely.........but none as well as the Rattray I was introduced to last year, and have recently opened. Oh, my.........:D Nectar.

And, as luck would have it, the missus has booked us a retreat in early peak season up in Islay, here's a view right by the cottage.......think we'll need to go taste a wee dram or three........

That looks fantastic Paul, I hope the weather is that good for your visit

- the depletion and misery march on, is there no end to this wretchedness...

...

:D

I could have looked for a longer corkscrew, but I wanted that knife in the picture. The first third of the cork crumbled, but the rest held together and the results were fine.

Very nice Stuart, it's been a while since I've had Leoville-Barton :) I use a Butler's Thief corkscrew on my crumbly corks, not that I have many of those left :(

Thank you, Jack, and I'll send you several of the crumbly corks that I remove - for old times' sake. ;) Serendipity surfaced at my house on Sunday, Jack, when a young car enthusiast friend of our son (they are in a Pontiac G8, aka Holden Commodore, club) brought me a host gift on NFL Super Bowl night. I promptly reserved it until the hoopla died down, and then a few of us sat by the outdoor fire pit with cigars and glasses. You were right - it is special. (They thought stopping the pouring for a photo was indulgent, but they indulged me. The Queen #61 and W.H. Wragg English jack, they've come to expect.)

A worthy dram, Stuart, congrats.

Thanks, Jeff. It is quite lovely. The young man who gave it to me has been to the distillery and has a brick of their peat, of which he is going to give me a pinch for my pipe. Should be a treat from which to light a cigar.
