Beware again.

Auction ended.

The seller has to have ended this auction him/herself, probably due to messages sent from myself and others.

Below is what shows up when eBay shuts one down. The seller of the one below told me it was shut down by eBay and not by him.

"This listing (120702533287) has been removed, or this item is not available.

•Please check that you've entered the correct item number
•Listings that have ended 90 or more days ago will not be available for viewing."

No, Plumberdv.......I'm thinking it's pretty obvious he was ignoring messages from us. That's why I reported him.

Here's what e-Bay said:

We will review the listing(s) you have reported for violations of our
Potentially Infringing Items policies. In order to keep eBay a safe and
fun place to trade, we often rely on members like you to bring such
violations to our attention.

In light of our privacy policy, we cannot share with you any action
taken by eBay with respect to this listing. If we determine that the
listing violates eBay policy, we may:

1. Send the seller an informational alert;
2. Remove the listing; or
3. Suspend the seller.

Account suspensions are usually reserved for those sellers that
repeatedly disregard policy.

If the item you reported does not appear on its face to be infringing,
we may refer it to the intellectual property rights owner for review. If
the rights owner has a good faith belief that the item is infringing,
they may choose to send eBay a formal request to remove the listing.

His listing violated policy because he said "it SAYS made by Buck."

They sent him an alert and he ended his auction.

I saw that he wasn't responding, so I just went ahead and reported him while you were talking it over.

The e-Bay people can't shut an auction down because one of us say it's a fake.

They can only shut it down if they hear from an authority--and that means the Buck Company itself.

If e-Bay shut down auctions based on accusations from the general public they'd lose a huge amount of money and also get sued a fair amount for wrongfully closing auctions.

There are lots of sellers who try to shut down their competition by falsely claiming various and sundry illegalities in their auctions and e-Bay does spend a lot of time investigating them--but an opinion from you or me that a particular knife is a fake will carry no weight whatsoever.

You can (and should, if you have the time) harass the sellers of obvious fakes as Plumberdv does.......but it won't make much difference in the long run. The fakes are out there and will keep turning up on e-Bay.

You may succeed in one way......and that's in getting them to perfect their fakes to the extent that nobody can tell they're fakes without a lab analysis of the steel.

That's just the way it is.:confused::confused:

Honestly?

If you more carefully read my prior posts and quotes from e-Bay policies that I've provided in the past I think you'll be able to see the distinction--he had wording in his description that violated e-Bay policy.

In this case the warning from e-Bay caused him to pull the auction because he knew it would get pulled anyway if they took the next step.......and that would have been kept on his record. He chose to pull it and set it aside for a while.

He'll be back to sell another day.

Ummm......yes......."May"....... and they obviously DID.

Problem solved for now.

So what's your NEW problem?

Grumpy old man syndrome?

Get out there and buy another knife or three or six or eight, and make pictures quick.....it'll improve your mood.

:D

You are assuming that they "obviously did" and for that you have no proof. It could just as easily been the messages sent to the seller by myself and several others that caused the seller to stop the listing, so it's not obvious to anyone but you. Unless you have a special deal with eBay so that they inform you of what actions they take (contrary to their own privacy policy).

You are the one most likely to demand proof of anything, so why not this?;);)

It matters not, however. The listing is done and over with. Mission accomplished.

Well, I'd agree......if the seller hadn't been so OBVIOUSLY ignoring you.

I think you may be getting a reputation with the bad sellers.

;)

Again, where's your proof of that? My message to the seller was sent at 3:05PM, the listing was ended by the seller at 5:24 PM. I don't know when the other messages were sent, but even if there were none, 2 hours and 19 minutes doesn't seem like proof of being ignored.

The philosophers tell us that nothing is really proof of anything.

I'm not worried.

:)

Actually, he said:

Hurray, boys! We've got them. We'll finish them up and then go home to our station.

Another classic case of overconfidence.

He built his reputation killing women and children.

There are not enough bad sellers on e-Bay to defeat the Plumberdv Cavalry.

(I'd banter with you all day, PD, but somebody's gotta check e-Bay for violations.)

After looking till my eyes were sore I didn't spot any Bass Turds floating in the Bay.I know more will pop up in time but I believe Dave shot them down for now!

Well this piece of crap has now been given a name. I was browsing a popular auction site and saw this "knife" and then saw the description-here it is

BUCK DZ152 Thunder Killer Assist Folding Survival Knife

Item condition: Used

Time left: 10h 28m 7s (May 26, 201119:00:06 PDT)

Bid history: 8 bids

Thunder Killer:confused::eek::thumbdn:
Now it has a ridiculous name to go with the ridiculous design.

Well, considering it's at a pawn shop and they sometimes thing they know everything, wait till it breaks and the schmuck sends it to BUCK under their lifetime warranty.
