So, I bought a Kershaw Blur in May 2011 and also found this forum that month. Well, just a word of warning to all the newbies, like me, who are on this forum.

YOUR WALLET CAN'T TAKE THE ABUSE THAT THIS FORUM WILL CAUSE!!!!

In four months, I have come by the following and I don't see and end in sight....

I'm gonna have to find me a sugar momma....hope my wife won't care...!

There is some level of truth here...this bizarre addiction is a mess and a half and then some. Just hit the exit button or you are doomed to spending all your hard earned smackers plus max out your plastic in the process. You have been warned!

I just keep telling myself that I am the most prepared person I know for the zombie apocalypse, and it's true... it really is... now if you'll kindly excuse me there's a mcusta vg-10 damascus and micarta handles waiting for me to purchase.

I love it! You guys offer absolutely no apologies for your "habit"........

Just like you I joined this hellhole in May, before that I had no real interest in knives. Since then I've spent something around $2000

:barf:

That's true. I gave had my steel addiction for years and have never shaken it. But once I got on thus site the blade fever is raging higher. What a nice addiction though.

it is no longer an addiction.....its a disorder...and it contagious....lol

KAD is strong

(KAD=knife acquisition disorder)

I feel your pain. After acquiring approximately 10 folders in the last 9 months I have realized that I am severely deficient in fixed blades... Uh oh, the madness continues.

yup since joining i've purchased 7 folders and assorted sharpening/maintenance stuff, and it was very hard to keep it at that. I'm on a couple of pre-order lists and really want to get on a few more. This has put my car on the backburner for a bit. Oh well I love it.

Get back with me when the count rises to several hundred and the knife in your pocket is worth more than the vehicle you drive. :D.

Just wait till you start buying high end productions, like Chris Reeve, or Strider, and then there are custom knives. You have just begun.

No worries. We are all in this together :). Finances have been tighter than usual so I thought I would just not get any more for a while. Well, now I have decided to get cheaper blades but still decent. Soooo I am back at it already but just less price range. Been happy with some Kershaw and CRKTs.

I agree, now I suggest we open a thread on how to bring this , oh so much needed, zombie apocalypse....

I understand where the OP is coming from. I first found out about knife forums back in the late '90s and I soon started collecting knives. Then I noticed posts that showed nice watches which pushed me into the watch addiction. I got away from knives when I got into sports cars and guns, but the allure has finally brought me back. In the last month I have bought three folders including a Hinderer XM-18 to join the quartet of Chris Reeve knives I already owned.

On the flip side, I think knife collecting is a very rewarding hobby.
