I have been reading some of the problems folks are having with getting scammed, ripped, what ever.

When we put Three Sisters Forge together as a business we looked through the clients eyes, Here is what I recommend:

-No deposits, No payment till yours is on the bench.
-Exception is for custom engraving, etc.
-Use PayPal. This allows you to cancel payment.
-100% beyond satisfied, full return policy. HONOR IT !!

I sleep well and so do my clients. My $.02 worth. Thank you.

Jim

Give me your thoughts on what we as custom knife-makers can do to serve our clients. Maybe time for a code of conduct. I hate to see folks that get their hard earned money ripped. It also makes our honest business difficult.

Suggestions ?

I don't think that there's any magic bullets or even anything really revolutionary required.

1) Build a quality product
2) Deliver what you say you are going to deliver.
3) Deliver it when you say you are going to deliver it.
4) If for any reason there is a delay inform the customer immediately, don't make them come hat in hand looking for you.

Here is The Golden Rule I go by, which probably very succinctly sums up the business ethic I'd like to see - "treat others the way you want to be treated". :-)
