A false sense of security from someone bying a "real" membership is no substitute for doing due dilligence. Why limit your business opportunities when you can run the person through GB&U? If they're new, and you're uncomfortable, then don't do the deal or insist they send the money first. There's nobody insisting you sell to the first (or even the third) person who shows an interest in your knives and such if YOU are not comfortable dealing with them. On the whole though, I find people here to be very honest and trusting- which is amazing considering the sums we're often discussing when it comes to knives for sale.
And for the record, if I were a conman (which I'm not and have done several deals on this board to a successful conclusion) and knew I could scam someone just by buying a membership, I wouldn't hesitate. Think about it- if you spend $25.00 on a membership and manage to get someone to send you a Sebenza which you don't pay for, you've made a substantial profit. It may not work more than once, but it did work...at least once. That's my view of it anyway.
