Ya can fool some of the people sometimes, but ya can't fool this Gypsy.
I was at a flea market one day with my wife and some guy had a van backed up to a table and on the table was a dog, a mutt about a year old.
We stopped to talk to the guy and pet the dog and as we did the guy told us his story, he say's he a Viet Nam Vet and he's fallen onto hard times.
Because of this he can't afford to take care of his only friend, the dog, he figured if he could sell the dog, (as a tear rolls down his face) the dog would be guaranteed a good home and he could afford some food for himself.
My wife's ready to hand over what ever money she had after his sad story and lookin' into the sad dogs eyes, I quickly pulled her aside and said if the guy and the dog were still there on the way back I'd give him money for food for him and his dog.
After shoppin' around awhile we headed back to the truck and as we passed the spot where the van and dog had been, there was the guy, as I reached into my pocket to pull out some money for him I heard him retellin' his tale,(pun intended) of woe I realized the dog wasn't the same dog, I knew he was scammin' now so I waited and watched.
Eventually a couple adopt/buy his dog and after a tearful goodbye and a promise from the couple that he could visit "Spot" anytime, they give him their address, (perhaps another opportunity to scam or steal) and off they go to bring "Spot" to his new home.
The guy disappears into his van for about 15 minutes and emerges later with yet another dog.
I went and told the LEOs about this guys scam and they checked him out, turns out he had 3 more dogs in the van and he'd been goin' up and down the coast taken free dogs and later goin' to flea markets and truck stops singin' his sob story:thumbdn:, the cops found a couple a grand in a box under the passenger seat, probably donations and adoption fees paid to him for his dogs.:grumpy::thumbdn:
