I ordered a knife from www.ebladestore.com last month. 35 days later I emailed the Website to ask why I hadn't received my knife. They told me that the particular knife I had ordered was out of stock. That would have been nice to know. The one thing they were fast in was depositing my money into their account.

I ordered a couple of KNIFE Annuals from them back about the middle of December...........they got here about 1 week ago. Like you, they were real quick to debit my card and get the money.

They charge your card, consolidate orders, and order when they can get a volume discount from their vendors. In the mean time they make a couple of points on your money. If you could do this on a regular basis, it is woth about 5 points a year. After thirty days put a dispute in with your card carrier. They will charge back the culprits. This has happened with some well known makers over the years. If you pay by check, or cash, a binder on the sale , say a hundred dollars on a five hundred dollar item is acceptable,if you know the individual. If you get had, let everyone know, it will cost them more to be dishonest then to have a following of satisfied users.

Take care, they are after you !

Due to the nature of the knife business it is not uncommon for any retailer to have a delay with certain models that stay on backorder (many Benchmades, most Emersons and a lot of the Microtechs fall in this category). However, if this store is charging your card before actual shipment they are violating the term of their agreement with MC, VISA, AMEX and/or Discover. We are specifically prohibited from charging a card until the item is actually shipped. The only exception would be charging a small deposit to reserve an item. I would report this to the issuing credit card.

I understand about delays. What I don't understand, and won't tolerate, is the retailer not informing me of the delay/backorder within 24hrs. This would allow me to either cancel the order or order a knife he does have in stock - afterall, the list of knives I want is endless :D ! I think that's what irks customers the most - the lack of timely info.

As for the no charge until shipped issue - I've found that the knife dealers are really good about it. What I'd like to know is how those shady Brooklyn camera dealers get away with it - I swear they charge your card before you're off the phone !

By the way, I visited your website - I think you have a TOPS with my name on it ! :)

Thanks for the info guys. A rep from the store emailed me, and told me that it would probably be another week or so.

Any online store that has any decency should update their website to reflect "out of stock items". Or at least notify buyers within a couple days, not wait for the buyer to call them 5 weeks later.

I understand that some handmade knives do take longer to receive, and I'm cool with that, but I ordered a Swiss Army knife.
