I'm all for talking about steel names though this particular thread is just about double checking our knife information sources. Shall we carry on with steel talk or take it to the appropriate section?
Alright, carbonsteel928, that's fine with me. A lot of marketing in the knife world, really. If you really wanna go by the book, a.k.a. literally a textbook, there are still low and medium carbon steels.
I am confused, should I get the Mora or not?
Hey, you opened that door by going on about how the survival knife guy "pretended" he knew a lot about knives, while posting inaccurate information yourself.
I believe they call that "hubris." It rarely goes ignored around here.
I am confused, should I get the Mora or not?
But they are not used as cutlery steels. So "high carbon knife steel" is redundant/meaningless. Again more misinformation.
I'll quote AG Russell who does't pretend to know what he's talking about: "We usually want knife-grade steel to have >.5% carbon, which makes it "high-carbon" steel. "
Something tells me i've hit a dead end with this guy. You've been telling me the same things and they're all great points once you twist the more general context with which i was talking about steels. Thanks for the input about high carbon steel, again.
Like i said, i am capable of posting inaccurate information just like i did so. What makes me better than Blackburn is that i am open to discussion here and let people chime in and allow myself to be corrected accordingly and also correct myself the best ways i can. That, i think, is what sets us apart from people like him who hand out misinformation pretending to be an authority in the matter and do not let others comment on his work. The information i give out is not what i insist to be the end word in this community. Do not confuse yourself.
Do forgive me for using redundant words like stainless carbon steel. It was all just a mis-wording error on my part. I never gave out any false information on the content of VG10 alloy steel.
You keep missing Marcinek's overall point. You came in here to completely blast some guy out there on the Internet like "Yeah, we all totally need to smash this one guy on this one blog for putting BAD INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET!!!! WHO'S WITH ME!" and then you proceed to put both feet in your mouth repeatedly in your own call-out thread. Like, dude, don't you have anything better to do than try to act like the knife world's caped crusader? Honestly, if you're this burned over some blog written by a nobody, then I want your life, because it must be amazing if this is the biggest deal in your day.
All in all, this thread makes you look like the sort of person who probably gets told to get a life on a regular basis.
This link is just a smuge of the vast amount of information on the internet if you want to clarify a word, a meaning or a process or place to get knowledge, services or supplies regarding knives & knife making. Go here for mere starters.

We have all said, made, done, things incorrectly. Have a nice evening.
Oh, you're missing my point. I already admitted to shooting myself in the foot and attempted to correct myself a few times. I'm on your side, man. It's all of these nobodies against us guys who are truly interested and passionate about this stuff. And you crossed the line.
