What do you expect from a third world FACTORY. There have been numerous threads showing that he is not a genuine custom maker but a sweat shop using sub par damascus. Mughal Bros have been given many opportunities to show his/its work and prove that it is in the spirit of custom and hand made knives yet has never even really tried to. When asked specifics about HT or materials he has no clue and just gets all defensive. I cringe every time I see a new knife for sale but the admins have said let it ride. Do a little shopping on Ebay and you will often see knives from the same production run being sold there over and over. Good luck. You really kinda should have know though. You can't get a real bar of damascus for what he/they/it sells a completed knife for. If it seems too good to be true then it probably is.

It's no secret all thee knives are made in Pakistan, out of that most would call questionable materials with a less than optimal heat treat and who knows what the details are. But if you bought the knife on the 2nd, and it is shipping from Pakistan you cannot seriously expect it to be here in 6 business days. That is unreasonable by any international shipping standards. My advice moving forward is before you buy a "custom" knife from anyone, search for them on Google, and on the forums. You will save a lot of time, energy, and money.

I have bought knives from many foreign country's and have had no problem. I
have been collecting knives on and off between 25 years defending this great land.I must agree with you when it sounds too good to be true. 65 year old moment of stupidity.

I wouldn't beat myself up too bad about it. There is a certain (if unjustified) understanding here that we are all in this together and not much fraud goes on. Which is why I don't understand why the mods have let them sell in the knifemakers section instead of the dealer section. I mean if the guy/guys can't even provide a real photo of their shop and their own two hands holding the unfinished knife that they are trying to sell then why let them lower the integrity of this exchange.

I ordered mine from them on 10/08. Just got it from DHL a few minutes ago.

I have never owned a Damascus Knife before. Can't say I even remember having one in my hand. But I figured I would buy a cheap Damascus knife and see what I thought about it then look to pick up a better one later. Being unfamiliar with Damascus I am a little skeptical about the quality of this thing. The finish on the blade is such that as I run my finger nail across the blade I can feel the Damascus pattern. It does stop my fingernail as it moves across the blade. I was under the impression that the Damascus "look" was in the metal itself. Not on the metal. Kinda surprised that I could feel the pattern. Also there are spots on the blade where the Damascus pattern is just plain gone. Has holes in the pattern and it's obvious they should not be there. From the little I know about knives, this thing aint Damascus as advertised. It's got a coating or etching on it made to look like Damascus. I'll set up the camera here in a bit and take a stab at getting some decent picks of what I am talking about. Will give me an excuse to break out my Macro Lens for once.

BTW, I actually bought this knife then bid on another one on his Facebook Page. Glad I did not win the bid as I certainly don't think I want another knife made by them and will never recommend them.

And when they mailed it, I got an email saying my knife was in the mail. LOL No tracking number, thank you or even a name or business name. LOL

Also the knife I received was not even the one I ordered. This one I ordered can be found here:

Oh and I just noticed something after wiping the oil off the knife blade with a rag. LOL The pads on my finger tips are now black. So this Damascus is just etched or painted on.

I am almost tempted just to bite the bullet and post this knife up in the pass around section.

Oh and Something else I just noticed. Folded up with the DHL Shipping tickets is a very nice little invoice. I bought my knife from WB Knives. Invoice says R & R Cutlery.

Aint that SPECIAL LOL

Integrity in this case is an individual thing and should not be given the "one rotten apple" approach, that thinking could not be further from the truth. The Exchange is a sink or swim section. By the same token in your example, if someone is incapable of researching what they buy before pulling the trigger, or representing their items accurately then they hold the key to their own survival or demise as it were. On the other hand, no one if forced to buy anything, just to be clear. There are a lot of options available from all over the world. The buyers hold just as much responsibility in the matter to do their due diligence on the items they spend their money on. Makers pay their membership and make a go of it, they either survive here or move to Instagram. We don't tell anyone what they can or cannot sell (aside from illegal items), and merely provide the venue for sales to occur. If a deal is too good to be true, it is.

It is a "damascus" pattern welded blade. The different steels are folded together with forge welding. The blade is later etched with an acid to highlight the different colours of the steels. The brighter steel you see there is likely higher in nickel and resists the acid etch more. This creates high and low spots and you can feel them if you run a finger nail across it.

However the darker steel looks very pitted. Who knows what kind of steel it is, or how it was heat treated. So you DO have a damascus blade, just a poor quality one.

Failing to investigate a vendor before buying is often unwise. Your granddad would strongly advise against it.

Intentionally misrepresenting a product in order to mislead someone into buying it is a crime. If the US Mails are involved in sale, payment or delivery, it is a felony. In certain countries, it can lead to loss of body parts.

Thanks, Ya I knew I wasn't buying quality on this one. Just could not afford to buy anything seriously nice this close to Xmas and wanted to get my son his first skinning knife and figured I could kill two birds with one stone and try some sort of Damascus Blade at the same time. Ya get what ya pay for. It was cheap and I did not expect a showpiece.

I did not expect to see such misrepresentation from the seller though. He states in the other thread he did not even know who R & R Cutlery was then I get this packing slip/invoice with R & R Cutlery as the Header. LOL The fellow should must have a hard time remembering what lies he told where. LOL

Looks like Mughal-Bros ran into the Ban Hammer.

Not sure what makes this a Ban Hammer issue. I guess a matter of misrepresentation. But here is a screenshot of my Paypal Purchase. Pay Particular attention to the Email Addresses.

For him to state in the other thread he does not know R & R Cutlery looks to be a bit of a stretch.http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...p-amp-stamp-on-knives?p=13582465#post13582465

If the admins need to see a scanned image of the invoice with R & R Cutlery written across the top here that is.:

Well there is the definitive proof that RR cutlery and wb knives are the same person. That is certainly a ban hammer offense. Can't have multiple accounts on this site.

Ya I don't think he was was banned before I posted my first post in this thread. So I assumed the admins may have banned him simply on my stating what I saw. And probably were just tired of dealing with the issues repeatedly. I did not see anything else going on at the time so just made that assumption.

Figured I would show them so they had something in hand as opposed to just going off of something some new guy on the forum says.
