Bewildered

I agree Joe, pricing is a slippery slope, and not just for new makers.

Think about it, whenever a knife is priced/sold it's has an affect not just on the maker/seller but other makers, dealers and collectors who have that maker's knives in their collections.

Here's a thread from a while back where a lot of makers weighted in on pricing theories.

Good thread.

And Joe, thanks for joining the CKCA. :)
Now i have tomatch up my memebership with my screen name...lol.

Hey Joe i think you may have just discovered a new marketing method.... whine about your knife not selling, post a link to said knife, and there ya go.... sold!
Hmmmm........i wonder if Blade and Tactical Knives charge extra for whining like they do for four color?:D

I applaud Joe for a few things. First off he made a great knife. Second off he spent smart money getting a rewarding photo of it. Thirdly, as a NEW maker he sent it out at a price that will make no one have any remorse whatsoever.

As time goes on and Joe makes more and more pieces he IS going to incrementally increase his prices. As he should.

I think Joe just hit a hard drive getting to first base and he is solid in the game.

Joe, I always find it humourous to read folks commenting on something being too low priced but never pony up the $ to buy the item. Unfortunately, I have been travelling since Blade and missed the posting. I am not out of $ and in fact am going home with $ but they will get spent either in online knife purchases or at other shows I will attend.

I don't know your work at all and because the knife did sell, won't be able to spend the $ required to obtain that one which I would have certainly enjoyed being added to my collection.

If you do another of equal workmanship and price, feel free to email me and we will go from there.

Thank you sir. I bumped the prices for "similar knives" on my website a little bit today, but they are stillin the ballpark. I now have to come up with 4-5 for orders, a couple for the Troy, Ohio hammer-in and as many as 15 for the November Belgian show. On top of that, my press will be up and running, so I want to take a crack at some basic damascus patterns. The fun part be seeing how many I actually have to start to get those 22 or so good ones plus whatever addtional orders come in.

That's all sounding good to me Joe - keep at it.

Thanks, Roger. I currently have no life and what this means is that will not change for at least 4 or 5 months:D
