Dealers here should be required to state:
~If they ship internationally or just conus.
~Where there free shipping applies.

This is 2015. BF is not a CONUS only forum.

Well, it is based in the US so one would be drawn to make certain assumptions about their dealing and what do you have against Alaska and Hawaii ???

I have found that a simple and polite inquiry to a dealer gets me a prompt and cicil answer to my questions.

Many dealers and even private BF members will agree to ship overseas if they get a polite, informed inquiry. I have shipped to a number of these with no aggravation.

I hate "CONUS" which does not mean what they think it does. It is a specialized military term that does not belong in civilian sales terminology. US states, territories, and dependencies are all delivered by US Postal Service.

Most non-US addresses can be reached by USPS services at reasonable rates for secure products like Express and especially Registered Mail.

Beyond that, a simple inquiry here in Feedback / GBU can inform you on which non-US rules you need to know.

Since "This is 2015" it's fairly easy to check a website on the interwebs for shipping policies...

If that fails, you can always try the "This is 2003" email thing, or the "This is the 1900's" telephone thing.

They all do, on their websites or via PM.
More often than not, I'd guess 99% of the time free shipping applies to the country where the store selling the item is located.
Most of the dealers are located in the US, and most have sites that have information indicating shipping policies. Here is a neat list compiled for all the active dealers. Apologies for anyone that may be missing or still listed that is no longer active. I will remedy that as much as possible.
In short, a quick click on their website should reveal a link to shipping policies.

Given that most major dealers post their shipping & handling policies anyway, it wouldn't cost them to clarify where they ship and at what rates. But if they won't, you can always find someone who will. The US market may simply overwhelm the need to learn the ins and outs of the international market.

It's especially tough when customers have no idea themselves what is or is not legally allowed in their own countries.

Right.

I lived in Chicago for a number of years, and during that time I could not purchase a firearm from many online dealers. Even if the firearm was legal in Chicago, and even if the FFL they were shipping to was outside of the city, they still didn't want to risk it because they saw that my billing zip was a Chicago zip.

Can't say I blame them, when you're dealing with different laws things get very sticky.

So this is just a blanket complaint against all of our Bf dealers or are you mad one just didnt give free shipping to a distant country? :thumbdn::thumbdn:

It is not hard to put in the bottom of your post "US sales only" or "offer for US residents only" Individuals do this that post here why can't dealers?

I don't see how my statment could offend anyone. It is pretty basic request. I deal on other forums and we add all the info on shipping to be transparent. Not what I'd consider "click-bait knife deals," Great deals but then you visit the dealers website and on checkout you can't complete the order.

Please no apologist repsonses. I support this forum and the many friends, makers and dealers I have met here.

So only people who agree with you can comment now?
On my other forums we list that in the thread title for transparency.

No, lefty just no more statements like:

Not germain.

I always ask if they ship overseas if not stated. I never assume "free shipping" applies to international orders. Never even thought of it being an issue.

Well it is just a blanket statement and it is a little insulting.

Given that if it is dealer, you will not be completing the transaction with them here on the forum. You will be going to their individual websites to complete their your transaction there. You will find all the information you need on their private website that has nothing to do with BFC or its members here.

Or.....are you suggesting that all dealers here list all of their policies, FAQ, terms and conditions here in every ad they place? Or is it just shipping to cater to your specific need? Do you see the problem here? Asking dealers to repeat information in their ads here that is readily available where you will actually be completing the transactions is just ridiculous. It is 2015, all your resources are there. Use them rather than complain.

I don't live overseas but this.

If a Canadian business advertises free shipping, I never assume that means to the US.

Read the title of your post and maybe you will change your own mind.

same here. I go to the shipping policy's page, before I even start to shop. (not that easy to find dealers who ship international, and most of the time, my island is not even into the country list.
Thumbs up on this matter to the team at kinfekits.com and to Amber at knifeworks.com)

Also, I don't even ask for a free shipping since I prefer UPS or Fedex, as they offer insurance, live tracking and 3 days delivery before I get my toys...

The advertisers here on BFC are all reputable and upfront.

Some ship overseas and some do not, a review of their website or simple E-mail will generate the answer as to who ships overseas.

Free overseas shipping.................................. nope.

I think if it was free international shipping it would be stated and it would suprise me as I have never seen it offered before. My first visit usually is faq, payment, shipping, and return pages and I would guess that's where you would have found that information.
