BF2020 Viper Swayback Discuss Thread

This thread has been terrific for the knowledge gained in sharpening this "Super Steel". I am going to copy and paste each of the tidbits into a word document for later referral. Thanks all who are contributing. OH
Ps Of course I'm enjoying each variation of this knife - the handle material chosen is by far the show stopper.

r8shell r8shell and other stroppers of 1095, make sure you don’t use the same strop on your 1095 as you do on m390. The micro particles of the harder steel that come off in the stropping can create imperfections in the edge of the 1095 when you stop it afterwards–or so I’ve read.
Good to know.
I'll label this one just for supersteel. :cool:
:thumbsup:

- yes, that was a very big boy

Mbogo......interesting, I guess it's another Swahili dialect - have always known them as Nyati

:thumbsup::cool:
Yes.... all I know is what I've read in books, and I've heard them called both. A rose by any other name.... :D

OOOOOH! LOOK! A new Forum Knife!!! mmmmmmmm....

I asked the factory and they said they used a special organic compound with insect deterring herbs and left a good bit embedded in the horn. So, as long as nobody cleans out the compound they will be good for a couple decades. :D

Is everybody that's been washing, buffing, scrubbing, polishing, and otherwise molesting the Rams Horn covers on your 2020 Blade Forums knives reading this? Scrub a dub-dub might give you a bug.:eek:

I've been reading the sharpening comments and instructions with interest. Very good information and worth trying; however, as for portability, strops, paint sticks, and tubes/tubs of diamond paste are not necessarily the way to go - at least for me. The DMT sharpeners as well as other brand sharpeners shown in the following picture are easily carried and will do the job on M390 steel. Of course the coarseness level is up to the user. There are many shown - coarse, medium, fine, etc..
