Mine is...strange.

:D I wanted some interesting character, with a little texture, maybe some areas of both light and dark. It certainly is all that! I just wasn't expecting such clearly defined stripes and it surprised me when I first opened the box. I think I like it.:thumbsup:

I doubt we’ll see one more unique than that. ;) :D Then again, you’d think other folks would end up with slabs cut from that same piece of horn, so maybe there will be some even stranger!

Every one is absolutely stunning !
Mine should be here Monday-ish :D

Received mine as well, although the photos don't do it justice. Very smooth, and a perfect blend of dark and light coloring!
Great job, Mike!

Wonderful!
I notice the curve of the grain is matched to the curve of the handle. (and it seems like all the examples so far do the same and are well matched) That's nice attention to aesthetic detail on Viper's part.

I also don't know which I like better, light or dark. They are all really nice. Every year I get the same feeling after the fact.... wish I would have ordered two. But, not going to do it since I probably won't use it anyway.

Yay!
I’m admittedly not a huge fan of Rams horn. This one is good though. I may see if anyone makes some other slabs to put on it and store these away. Love everything else about it. My first swag back, my first single blade wharncliff. Can’t wait to use it a bit!

I noticed that too. I love how the curve of the horn grain matches the curve of the spine of the blade when closed.

They look awesome so far. The rounded top on the backspring looks nice also. I’m looking forward to mine coming on Monday.

One of Jacob’s rams right there. Nice!

Thanks! I'd never heard of those.

So, the next question is: how hard is M390 to sharpen? Can I touch up the edge with my Spyderco fine ceramic stones?

Wasn’t it Jacob who told Laban he’d take all the spotted and striped lambs for payment? Then he used the striped stick when the lambs came to get water?

I had a Roundhead and it took a while to sharpen it with my water stones. I think m390 has a very fine structure, which makes its retention great, but also makes sharpening harder without something really hard (diamonds or ceramic).
