I love this place, most forums that have giveaways have tons of people entering whether they're paid members or not, if it's free it's for me mentally generally rules but not here, I see more people posting, "...not an entry, just wanted to say thanks".

You folks actually want to share and give other people a chance to win, what is with you people?

I know myself if it's a knife I have or I really won't use it, I won't enter, also if I recently won a giveaway I won't enter,(unless it's something I really want ;) ).

Really, this is a truly folksy place and I really enjoy the members here and their laid back attitudes, you all restore my faith in society. You show me on a daily basis how kind, caring and giving you all are, something that's missing in a lot of other internet forums I frequent.

I'm coming up on 12,000 posts soon so I'm thinking of doing another giveaway so keep your eyes peeled for details. I just wanted to really say thank you to all you good folk at BFC for being there and helping me in some of my more trying times.

So you all give yourselves a hand, have a drink or a cup of coffee on me and if there's ever anything I could do to help of give back to this great big front porch of a hangout please don't hesitate to let me know.

I can't recall who started calling this a Folksy place but they nailed it right on the head with that description, y'all have a Folksy night now ya hear. ;)

Evidently the collectors here and other knife lovers here just aren't greedy. YES, it is refreshing. When I get tired of the political stuff and the belly aching on lots of different sites, I pull up my chair to BF and relax with my coffee or coca-cola. Nope, I never won a giveaway and I don't enter all of them. But I have had a knife gifted to me, and the generosity here on the forum is unequaled. A great place to be!

i recently won a bk13 in a gaw on the becker foroum and moose tossed in a becker hat too boot!! he didnt have too heck i didnt expect too win anything but he did and that just shows the generosity of the people here!

Place is very nice. This thread needs a knife picture though right?

See, we're not all nice fellas. ;)

It is a great forum.

Seems to do a good job of bring folks together, and keeping a lid on bad behavior as a general rule.

Oh, and I'll pick #57 for the win!

The camraderie and generosity of spirit here is certainly second to none, and it's an interesting place too, made that way by its regular posters :)

Congratulations on your impending milestone Ted, that's quite a post count my friend

Putting the church-key you kindly sent me to good use :) Cheers!

I got a lot of knives. Probably more than I could ever use and enjoy. Like Ted, I do enter give-aways, but it's usually for a knife pattern that I don't have. It is funny though, sometimes it seems like it's hard to give a knife away on this forum. Some of the most giving and unselfish people I have ever encountered.

It does renew your faith in society, doesn't it?

I didn't need to see that picture, Jake, as bad as I have been craving crawfish. My wife doesn't eat them so I generally don't go for them by myself. But,. that pic may push me over the edge.

This is a great place. Many, many give aways happen in this forum; I've seen as many as five at a time active. This is a unique place. Traditional knives attract great people; I'm proud to be a member of this great community.

Yeah the community is really something special here. I won a great handmade sheath not too long ago that I love. I'd like to pass it on when I get some time. The favor, not the sheath. ;)

I couldn't agree more. I've done a few GAs here in the trads area but I'm sure I've entered many more GAs than I've done. I don't hink I've ever done a GA outside of this area. Ted, I'm the same way on the GAs. I take a look at the knife(s) in the GA but if it's something I wouldn't like to use or carry I defer to the next. I think when I get close to the 1K make I'll do another. I normally don't do knife GAs but maybe this time I will.

When I came on board in Jan 2010, I didn't know anything about give aways. Anyway I signed up for Ash's SAK Classic give away and "WHAT!!!" , I won! I did my first give away not too long after that and have done several since then. There is tangible good will generated on both ends of a give away. I don't have any eloquent words to describe it, but that first give away I did made me understand why folks here do it. And it taught me a lot about the folks in this subforum and in general. I have won a couple of really nice knives in the give aways and others have been gifted to me; those are going to be with me until I am no longer walking this planet. I count the folks that gave them to me as special friends and the knives as reminders of their generosity.

The people here are special, caring, giving, thoughtful, and helpful. I am honored to be here with you all; thank you for the graciousness you have shown to me and others.

Not an entry.:D

I can't recall either, who started calling this place folksy. But it is a good name. This place is a very special place only because of the very special people that make it up. I don't know if it's the traditional knives bring out traditional values, or maybe it's that it may be an older crowd here than other places. More family men who have raised children and are old enough to remember the values of an older Uncle or grandfather.

Generosity on a lot of other forums is greatly lacking. As is the forgiving spirit that dominates this place, where people from very different walks of life, countries and cultures, all seem to share something special. I have not seen another forums like this one. I didn't touch a computer until 2002 when my better half bought one. I was, and still am to a degree, a technophobe. But in the short time I learned to get on line, I participated in gun forums, motorcycle forums, car forums, other knife forums. Today, they are all history. I have not bothered to go to any of them for a long time.

This is the only forum where I feel like I've made friends that I would be proud to call family. This place is that special.

Carl.
