Yes,a Wal-Mart offering.Are some of you saying that BG-42 blade steel is still offered?DM

I had gotten that impression from some who had posted about calling Buck when they had a custom made. I talked to Liz a few days ago via e-mail and received this response (a partial quote):

"I looked into the question about making other custom knives outside of what is already offered on the web and I find that at one point we did try and accommodate different requests but found it was not in the best interest of the consumer or us to continue to do so. The reason is the knives were taking a very long time to make because of the limited crew we have in the specials department and another reason is that we found it was also very labor intensive for us to make them and do the research of what materials we did and did not have in stock. Then there was the issue of costing and pricing such a rare item."

I assume from her answer, that pretty much what you see on the site is what you can get. Perhaps that isn't engraved in stone and some may be able to get something special by calling.
