Hello fellow Spyderco fans :)

I'll preface this with I'm a big, big fan of Sal and the company but I'm a fan of well made knives regardless of company.

Got quite a few Spyderco's and have bought/traded/sold more. There have always been standouts and favorite models (the Native and Civilian come to mind) but the Military never caught my attention.

I had a original Military (G10 & Serrated) briefly and it didn't do anything for me. The handle felt kinda flimsy and while light the overall package didn't cut it.

After reading about the evolution of the Military and the continued refinement I wanted to give Military ownership another shot. Picked up a BG-42 Carbon Fiber model. Wow what a difference the years have made ! ! !

There is no flex in the handle (thanks to the dual milled in liners), the lock-up is fantastic, came even sharper than most spyders (hard to believe I know) and the fit/finish is beyond approach for a production knife (yes a limited run I know).

Handle wise the CF is wild, like a cross between G10 and CF. Really grippy and very pretty to boot.

Finally, the weight was a real eye-opener. There doesn't seen to be any difference in overall weight between the Military and my current EDC Native II.

Even the engineer in me was fascinated by the details. The liners are barely there, like the boys at Spyderco kept wittling them down until they had the perfect balance of reinforcment and extra weight. The gibbing on the liner release is very cool too. I've been fighting the urge to strip this knife down and get a look at all the parts.

 Sal you really outdid yourself with this model

A stunning knife in form, function and appearance.

:D

Couldn't agree more with the overall assessment, but the lack of flex is not due to the milled in liners but due to the CF. The CF Milli has less flex than a Manix, and that is saying something!

Nice write up. I could not agree more.

+1 on the comments. The Milli is a great knife and BG-42 and CF even enhance it. Mine's been in my right front pocket since it arrived and I think it will stay there.

I have had mine for about ten months now and I have to say that it is one of my favorites. It is also my primary folder for hiking/backpacking. The weight to size to cutting ability ratio can't be beat.

Glad you are enjoying your BGCF Millie, pageophile, IMO it is one of the best knives Spyderco produces.

with how impressed i have been with my od/d2 millie, which is my first "contemporary" spyderco, i may end up having to get the cf model. it just looks amazing!

how about some pics of yours????

And finally, after reassembling (This Spydie is REALLY easy so take apart and put back together again):

Thanks for the pics Murdoc370

That's kinda what I was expecting but even more detailed than I expected. The skeltonized liner is a very nice touch :D
