After being a little bummed out by the Phoenix, I was definitely in need of some positive Spyderco ju-ju. Sure, I could have grabbed any number of models I've owned before or those that are known favorites, but I ultimately decided on a BG-42 Military.

The "one nice big folder" has been a vacant spot in my accumulation for a long time. I've had Millies before, but I like to carry all my knives in rotation at some point or another. Usually anything big stays home for being too big, so I tend to flip Millies, BM710s, etc. pretty quick.

But this time, I just wanted something nice more than just "large" so I took a shot at the BG-42 Military. Sure, the S90V is the latest/greatest, but I have a bit of a soft spot for BG-42 so I made my choice.

Wow. This thing is beautiful. It really is as nice as everyone says. Wonderful CF, top notch F&F, crazy- and I mean CRAZY sharp- factory edge.

I still do not like that the Millies are tip down only, but I like this one so much I sort of don't care.

Ah, nice to be back up on a Spyderco high again. I'll post some pics up later. :D

BG-42 Millitary is a Spyderco knife which is, IMO, the best Spyderco at present. Materials and f&f are perfect. The only remark: a liner lock might be obsolete but Sal does probably the best liner locks on the market. Besides, the BG-42 steel is a superb ingot steel. The edge is so fine. No complaints by me.
Congratulations to Sal.

I have two CF BG-42 Militarys and It is my number 1 knife with the new Police 3 right up there with it. I do not have the S90V but I really don't need it! BG-42 is agreat steel and gets super freakin sharp.

Another BG-42 Millie lover here! It is my favorite knife in the collection and mine sees ALOT of pocket time. It's just one fantastic knife!

I handled one the other day and it is even nicer in person than it's specs would suggest.
I have always discounted it because I have a Chinook3 but one thing about the Liner lock is it is nice and slim. BG-42 is excellent steel and one of my favourites.

Yup, the BG-42 Military had the sharpest factory edge I've ever seen. Fit and finish is up there as well.
