Just a query on bg42. It is it better than ATS-34? What would prompt a move to this particular steel? Thanks for your reply.

well my friend ramon who's been making knives professionally since WWII switched to bg-42 over d-2, and he says it is better than ATS-34. he was the first knifemaker to use it. I also have looked into the chemical anyisis of it, and it's cleaner and better than ats-34, it's also twice the price. if your thinking of switching definetly decide for your self if the price increase is worth the benifits of the steel.

tom, thanks i guess i'll buy it from admiral.

Would you consider 154CM instead of the BG-42? I could possibly supply it to you in 50# lots instead of the normal 500# lots. If your interested contact me.

thanks for the offer, but i'm sorry. i want to try out bg-42. tomorrow i'm going to buy .187"x1.5"x 6'. i'm lucky that the price isn't like m-2, which is twice the price. thanks again for the offer.

What do you pay for BG-42 versus M-2? I can't believe M-2 is more than about $11-12 per pound.

i only buy m-2 once in a blue moon. i payed $56 for a percision ground peice .187"x1.5"x18", it's expensive.
m-2 has alot of tungsten and vanadium. so it costs alot. bg-42 is about $30 for that size peice, un-percision ground.
