BG 42, why don't we see more knives in this steel?

I recently picked up a full serrated tanto sog autoclip in bg42. Looks nice. Sounds like bg42 is a good steel then. Might have to try to find a seb in it
 
BG-42 is a high purity VIM/VAR alloy. It is a double melt material (vacuum induction melt/ vacuum arc remelt). Because of the coventional smelting process as opposed to the powdered metallurgy process the maximum amount of Vanadium that can be added is about 2%. With the powdered metallurgy process, the Vanadium content can go as high as 12.5%. The grain structure of the BG-42 is probably a little coarser than what would be obtained with a P/M process.
