I bought one the other day, but have not got outside to cut anything. Has anybody cut anything with theirs, to see how this steel compares with S30V?:)

You won't be able to tell the difference in cutting performance in normal day-to-day usage.

This past weekend I used my CF BG42 Milie to do some electrical work. I used my milie to cut the sheath of romex, as well as to strip the wires. I was surprised at how comfortable the milie felt. I was hesitant about doing this sort of work with a large folder, but the milie did just fine. I choked up on the handle and ta-da, romex was stripped in no time. Not a bad cutter at all.

They both cut ok I guess. To me the S30 takes a toothier, not as smooth edge. I'd rather have it for cutting dirty rope, carpet etc. I like the BG42 better though, and can get a better edge on it for push cuts. Over all I like the BG42 steel, and knife with extra liner better as a package, though more expensive. They really are both pretty good performance wise though, take your pick. Haven't been hearing much about S30 knives chipping out sharpening or with light cutting anymore, suggesting it really isn't a problem anymore. That's a good thing because when it's right, it's really good steel.....as is BG42.

If you want to feel what I mean by a toothy edge, take a brand new S30 native out of the box and lightly run your finger over the edge. Almost like microserrations. JL
