After a long while meditating on what knife to get thinking maybe have a custom knife made but that didn't work out so I am going to get a blind horse bushcrafter and I am not sure what edge to have don't on it

Scandi or convex, I kind of want scandi cause I think that's what's on mora knives and I've seen some great vids of guys useing moras in the bush but also knives with convex edges blasting trough wood

Scandi convex isn't an option? If you can't have both, get convex. It's easier to maintain and cuts better.

I can ask if they can do scandi convex, is that as awesome as it sounds and it's it easy to maintain

The BHK grind is a true Scandi(flat to zero bevel) or a full flat grind with convex edge.

They might do a Scandivex for you on a full custom but it will be a wait and you wont get any better performance than the others IMO.

Their Scandi will carve and notch wood better that the flat grind with convex edge.

The Flat grind will hold its' edge longer, be more versatile, more durable while still cutting pretty darn good.

For an all purpose knife I'd get the flat grind.

I have flat grinds and scandis from BHK and they are both great knives.

I really like the Bushbaby.

You should get a Bushcrafter with a flat grind and a Bushbaby with a scandi grind. :D

I have knives with both and like Sargent said the flat with convex edge is more versatile and for me easier to sharpen. The scandi is heck on wood but Ive found I like it better on smaller blades. JMO though

I heard scandi was easier to maintain

Yeah it is but not any easier that the convex.

Just different.

The Scandi is easy because the edge is so thin so it has a very acute angle and a little stropping will bring it right back.

I've been able to protect my BHK Scandis' edge pretty good without damage or wearing it down to much so laying it flat on the bevel and stropping is all that it has needed.

A few nice stones from Ragnar would be all that you would need long term.

Once you get familiar with convexing it isn't any harder ... like I said .... just different.

I have the BHK Bushcrafter with a full flat grind with a convexed edge, and it's easy to maintain, and keeps an edge for a long time. Plus, it just feels good in the hand. I only wish I would've gotten on the list where I could get a Bushcrafter and Bushbaby with matching serial #s. Oh well. I'm thinking of ordering their Pathfinder 2 soon...

I like it but I am not a big fan of the handle design I might react different when he gets it and I have a chance to hold it

I might ask to have bullseye pins put in the handle of the bushcrafter like the ones in the pathfinder

Loveless bolts ? Brass in the center of the stainless ? Think they are standard on the Bushcrafter now. They used to be Corby bolts.

Actually stainless in the center of brass.

I have a BHK with a scandi grind and its a supersharp knife.

If I did have an option I would have gotten it with a convex grind because like a few have said the edge is much eaiser to maintain.
