Just bought the new titanium\carbon fiber boker kwaiken. I always wanted the kwaiken but couldn't decide between cf or ti so this was a no brainer. How do you guys feel about this new version?

I have the CF version. The flipper jimping and Ti liners are nice additions but I still prefer the all CF.

Forget that CF nonsense, I love my Orange G10 version. Sure, the steel is sub par but the orange scales make it downright stunning and one of my favorites.

Jimping on the flipper tab and using titanium liners and clip to lighten the weight are welcome as they were needed in the older flippers. Hope this is carried through in the Mini Kwaiken. Also, hope there's no stickiness to the titanium liner lock.

Its a good looking knife, but I rather pick up a Mini Kwaiken possibly in CF.

The only two versions of the Boker Mini Kwaiken flippers scheduled to be released this month are titanium and G-10. I prefer CF as well so hopefully we'll see it down the line.

I received mine today and im very disappointed. it has the worst lock stick ive ever experienced. flips very smooth and the jimping is great but the lock stick is real bad,and very hard to dis engage. im not doing the lead pencil trick or waiting for it to break in which I don't think it will , its going back immediately.its a shame, cause fit finish everything is very high quality but I hate lock stick.I even made a note to check for centering and lockup, didnt think this would happen. :thumbdn:

That's a shame regarding the sticky lock on the titanium liners. However, that's the norm with most Emersons. Certainly, titanium liners can be made non-sticky at the factory without the user having to painfully and slowly breaking it in. Look at the Fantoni HB series. There's even a folder with titanium liners and a steel lock bar interface - CKF Gratch.

I'm still holding out for an XL version. I'd love a 4-4.5" bladed kwaiken, as the regular model seems too dainty in my hands.

Todd Begg Steelcraft Kwaiken is an excellent 3.95" Kwaiken flipper. Melts in your pocket. As smooth as a Shirogorov F95. Both ride on loose bearings as do the Boker Kwaikens.

... And cost 4-7x as much ...

This is one of the only folders that has got me thinking of making a purchase lately..what do you all mean by "sticky lock"? Like the liner lock is tight/difficult to disengage?

The Titanium liner is softer than the hardened steel on the tang of the blade that the liner engages. This difference in hardness causes an effect called "galling", where the Ti becomes "stuck" on the blade tang.

^ exactly ; and sometimes it can be so bad you need a ton of force to get that lockbar off the tang.It really flips smooth, but the harder it locks up the more it sticks. Maybe the steel liners weren't so bad afterall.

I say... You should stick with your "Limited Edition" Cold Steel Tuxedo!

It's not like I'm suggesting that they stop making the original size! More options for everyone, I say!

Also, since we're talking about tuxedo knives... I do happen to have a thing for polished G10.
