BHQ just recently put the Kershaw Shield up on it's New Arrivals page.

I had this knife on my wishlist (since January, kinda forgot about it), so let's see how long it takes for me to get my "in-stock" email...
A lot of people have had a similar complaint as far as BHQ sending out these notifications way too late to be of any use.
I'm not expecting this budget Kershaw to sell out quickly, so maybe we can do a little experiment and see (roughly) how long it takes between "knife goes up on New Arrivals" and "email alert hits your inbox".

Because let's face it, if that time frame is more than a few hours, it's basically useless for new arrivals, especially popular releases that sell out in hours, or less.

I'm starting the timer at about 4:00pm PST.
What I really need (and would be happy to work with BHQ to implement) is an email alert that lets me know when to expect the item to appear on the New Releases page.
How bout an email on Monday that tells me to check New Arrivals on Wednesday for that new Spyderco...?

Is it by design that they want me checking the New Arrivals page several dozen times per day? Why? I'm not going to buy 99% of those knives.
How bout do me a solid and tell me when to be on the lookout, so I don't have to spend a cumulative hour of my day hitting F5 on New Arrivals...

Been about 30mins. No email yet...

I just broke the bank on the Dark Blue PM2 (I'm low on funds after taking some unpaid time off for the birth of my daughter), so no more knives for me this month, but maybe I'll try to convince a co-worker to drop $35 on one.

Honestly, I'm kinda beyond the budget Kershaws at this point. The Diskin designed Strobe is a fine little knife. It flips nicely, but I look for more in a knife these days.
I was just wondering what's the average time to expect to wait for a notification email from BHQ.
If it's gonna take more than 24hrs, might as well not even bother...

This is all really more feedback/comments about a specific retailer than discussion about knives, isn't it?

Have you emailed them about your concern? My experience with them regarding the website has been great and quick. They're good guys over there, I'm sure it's a simple programming fix,,

On top of that, the few times I've visited the store, they let me handle as many knives as I wanted, AFTER telling them I wasn't planning on buying anything that day...

Well I received an email from BHQ for the Shield this morning at 6:56 am central time. Just FYI. Doubt if I buy one right now but I might eventually.

Edit to add: I agree I'm kinda over the budget kershaws now as well. Love kershaw and great that you can get some Hinderer designed knives at a great price. But my favorite and most carried folder right now is a ZT 0392 so what am I gonna do with a shield?

I should add that I never received an email at all for the BRS Alpha Beast, but I knew when they were going to drop anyway.

I have zero complaints about BHQ, their site in general or their customer service, just their email alerts system.

I hear ya,, I would try emailing them though. They once had an incorrect picture posted,, I emailed them, fixed it soon after with a polite response. Good guys. Goofy but entertaining videos:D

Well that's about what? 19 hours or so? Not great. Not sure what the hold up is, but it would be nice if the emails could go out within the hour of the knife going live on New Arrivals.
Otherwise, kinda defeats the point. I mean, the type of person who signs up for email alerts about a particular knife is obviously very interested in buying that knife.

Then again, if a knife sell out that quickly, I suppose BHQ doesn't really care how many people they alerted, or didn't. They made their money.

I hope they do get it sorted,,, wouldn't mind getting my hands on that Izula folder...
I emailed them and 3 hours later got this,, hope it works!

That's been my experience as well. Smooth transactions each time, but I've never had luck with their email alerts.

I would have to agree with you. I love the guys at BHQ and will continue to order from them but I never received my email update for the pm2 in s110v. I've just learned my lesson to not count on their email system and if I want it bad enough to continue to just check because I don't want to miss out on the m4 pm2.

I really don't think BHQ is going to be very motivated to make any changes regarding this.

Think about it; we are coming from a customer viewpoint, but BHQ is operating from the view point of the seller. They don't care which people buy all their S110V PM2s. All that matters to them is they have 30x units and they sold 30x units in under an hour.
BHQ doesn't care if they sell those knives to random passers-by, or people who have had that particular knife on their "wish list" for months.

All that matters is that the knives sell.

But for us, the fanboys, it would be nice if some of the luck / randomness could be taken out of the equation.
I think it's unreasonable to ask your customers to check and refresh your website every 20-30 minutes for a week or more. How about giving the customers, even if it's only those who have the knife on their wishlist, a bit of a heads-up as far as when the knife is *probably* going to be going live on New Arrivals...?

Just now showing up in my Inbox for some reason, but the time stamp says almost 5am.
That's about 13hrs after it was posted.

I need alerts about 13hrs BEFORE the knife is posted...

I'm not certain, my speculation would be that it probably is not an automatic system but someone sending out an email during business hours.
