Black palm is an interesting wood, with the unstabalized version being very prone to tear out, but when stabilized and bias cut, it gains a magical property. It sells knives better than just about any other handle. This is a thread where some makers talk about the selling power of palm.

The difficulty is, good palm "that is palm with a high concentration of the darker black fibers" is only available in narrow widths, so cutting on the bias leaves you with a LOT of waste "in my case about 50 percent."

All the black palm is stabilized by K&G

Blocks are 2-1-5, +/- 1/16th in thickness. Some blocks are slightly longer or shorter, no more than about a quarter of an inch shorter, but up to 3/4 of an inch long.

All palm blocks are $35 dollars each! You wont find bias cut palm at this quality at a better price.

Ben,
If you can book match cut it for me, I will take #8 Perhaps you can bring it by on Sunday or, I may have a little maker get together thursday at my shop. It will be maybe three of us? I hope to have my new Wilmont Tag 101 grinder up and running by then. Let me know when to send payment or I'll just give you cash?

Thanks.

P.S. Any of you that work this stuff, use Sharp Fresh belts, Drill bits etc and keep the speed on the lower side, It can burn. Remember there is sand in Palm wood, take your time Its is truly Magnificence when you finish properly
