Bid Retraction, Ethics, Acquiring Buck Items On The Open Market

So here is yet another BS issue with ebay and a unethical seller. I win an auction pay for the item and it never comes. I contact the seller and they just ignore me. I contact ebay, they try to contact seller and give them another week to respond. In that time the seller closes out all of the other items they had for sale. Long story short, ebay gives me back my money.

The next day, the seller re-lists the same item. I had a pal contact them using their account and and ask about the negative feed back and this is what they had to say.

"The answer to your question is that im going through a divorce. My ex and I live across the country. We have collected several thousand differnt knives together. We have been ping ponging our items for a while now. Unfortuantly my ex husband got careless and did not send the item in a timely matter so i tried to cancel the transaction BUT instead i thought it would be easier to go into my other ebay account and to make a long story short..... i messed up. My deepest appology to everyone."

What a bunch of crap and BS. I did get my money back, ebay did not one thing to stop this seller. Buyers beware!

I don't mess with anyone who retracts a bid for any reason. I put them on my buyer/bidder blocked list as soon as it happens.

Same here. I had someone contact me as to why their bid would not process, and replied that they were blocked, as they had cancelled bids on a previous auction. My list just gets longer, never shorter.

The saga continues,

Just for fun I had my friend send another message asking why they never contacted the buyer?
Here is the Question asked to seller:
"I know the buyer you stiffed, they even contacted you and you just ignored them? Why don't you make it right and contact them and complete the last deal and not give some BS excuse!"

Here is the sellers response:
"I did contact the buyer, and did my best to make it right."

LOL, this seller never contacted me at all and ebay had to take my money back and refund it. Then I posted negative feedback. Last night after my friend asked this above question and the seller answered them, the seller sent me this via ebay message.
Seller to me last night:
"First of all I want to take the time to appologize for the big mess. I still have the knife that you wanted. I never wanted sell it to someone else. My ex husband and I are partners, and he sent me the wrong knife, and he took his during this process. I did the mistake... by not communicating the situation with you. Once appologize for this situation.

I have the knife still avail if you.... still have the interest in purchasing the knife all over again.

Sincerly,
(sorry I wont post their real name)"

Ok, I said lets see where this will go. I suspect that they wanted more money that what I had bought it for and the relist had a BIN for twice my price. So, I said sure I'll take it lower the BIN price to the price I won it at. They said they would have to figure out how to do that.
Seller sent me this reply:
"yes. i will be happy to do that for you. yes it is in my possession. Im going to need HELP on changing the invoice price."

Now the funny part, this was the next reply to me from the seller:
"I seen how you made me look bad. You are a liar..... You did not get ripped off. EBay credited your account. I can't believe low a low piece of doo doo, that you are. You don't deserve to repurchase that knife."

This seller is a real peace of work!

Some people in the world have problems which cause retractions and problems....nice your world is perfect?
!

Interesting to hear both sides of the EBay selling/buying experience. For every bad buying experience I've read five bad seller experiences with horrible buyers. Sucks when dealing with unhonorable people whether buyer or seller.

yes there are stories both ways...
most people that use flea bay are good intending folks
I had a bad experanced with a seller that was selling a beat up 112 of diamond plate sides
we agree on a price and then he looked up some things and said no...
amazing how fast they can go from nice to ulgggdly in 2.5 words...
but all in all my good experiences way out distance my bad ones...

On the buy side….I put in a snipe on a knife several years ago.
I was outbid by one person. A few hours later came the second chance offer for $1.00 less than I was outbid by.
I wrote back and told the seller that I would be willing to pay $1.00 more than the next bidder below me and I never heard back. :)

My guess was that the bid was run up on purpose.

In a similar vein what about sellers who end their auctions prematurely when they see they aren't going to get what they wanted for the knife. This has happened to me twice and it burns me up. They usually turn around and make it a BIN afterwards. Why not just make it BIN from the start if they're not going to accept what the market sets the price at?

They should have put a reserve on it,, ebay is like any auction, but they do allow reserves...many do not AND some live auctions allow buybacks!

I tried to buy a 110 on there and placed a bid, after that I sent seller a question if the knife had been polished or buffed, no reply. About a week later, just before it ended, I sent the same question again. About an hour later got notice that I was banned from bidding, what the heck??? Yeah, lots of good and bad people on there!

I would look at that a different way. I would be thankful to be banned by someone like that. I really wouldn't want to buy from them after not getting an answer from the first contact.
I would go one more step and put them on my no bidder/buyer list and poof….they're gone. :)

[Yes, I bought one on ebay and i could tell the "fb" had n
been buffed off!
