This is my take also... It only saves me money when I'm outbid![]()
BUT I hate seeing a knife sell cheap (that I would appreciate) and then the same knife gets relisted the following week for X amount more. I am in this for collecting not for greed. ...That point is now moot though, and with the possible shilling I dont frequent the bay much...
Ackkkkkk! I sure hope I have totally misunderstood what's going on here and there isn't anybody using Bladeforums to set up an illegal bidding ring and defraud people who sell at auction. I posted something about that once before: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4008838&postcount=71
I repeat, DO NOT use Bladeforums to organize a bidding ring or anything like a bidding ring or any kind of cooperation at all that tends to defraud people who sell at auction of getting a fair price.
Sellers are human beings too, just like buyers, and they have rights.
I don't know what you meant by "not unintentionally step on each other" and maybe I'd better not think about it too much, because ...
jb4570, I've noticed when I traffic on e-pay my computer gets all kinds of spam mail and my credit card company has to issue me new cards because of fraudulant charges. Theres also the parasite business people who don't insure purchases against loss or just out-right take your money and don't send the product and the site owners won't help you.Hi All,
If you do a search you will find an old thread with a list just like you are talking about. We were told by the forum god's to stop doing that as it was a violation here. It was in-line with posting links to live auctions...but in reverse.
I also agree with Ron and Larry...but try to not bid on my Pal's....some times though you have to fill a hole in your collection. I also hope no hard feelings were or are felt.
However, I did and do take exception to folks who buy up everything just to re-sell it for a profit....well that's just to bad for me because all on-line auctions are set up as free enterprise and I can participate or not ...it's my choice (I don't like Bill Gates; But, love his products...a little different...I know...but.....you get the point).
The only thing that I don't like about this new system is that it makes it much easer for the cheaters to start plying their trade. Let's face it some folks are just dishonest and will do what ever they can get away with. I don't like it that I can't see that the price is getting driven up by a bidder with no history (shill)....In addition, I used to take a look at someone's bidding history who was bidding against me as I could often tell how much they may be willing to bid based off their bidding history; it was just a tool I used often.

but on thinking on it relised that if i buy a knife that i have already and the new one has the stuff like box paper work ect and sell the one i have with out
am i a dealer or not? we all buy and sell as our collections change ...
so i am like many if i sell i would like to get the best price i can ...
if you want it more then me bid it !![]()
well i am glad you were not mute on that point...Dave,
I also sell as I feel necessary. This wasnt my point. Buying, selling.... most do it. Its the few that buy JUST to resell.
Again the point is now moot, noone knows who is what when bidding.
I stay away![]()
