I used my Buck 119 ($34 @ WallyWorld) & 120 in the yard - 6" & 7.5" respectively. They were plenty for my small branches. My RAT RC-5 was even better - not for felling small trees, of course, unless you have some time, but great for stripping a branch. I also found my old KaBars were fine - I had used my Dad's old one camping for years.
Below is the KaBar, Gerber LMFII (Yuck - the serrations don't help it's chopping!), RAT RC-5 (The best - just a tad short.), and a Buck 650 Nighthawk. The last one, the Nighthawk, showed promise in it's limited use. The Buck 119, not shown but think of a shorter KaBar with a hollow ground fine edge, like the Nighthawk, is pretty useful. I don't need a machette in my yard.
