I'm on the market for a big Bowie styled knife. A chopper, with a blade at least 10 inches long if not bigger, and at least an 1/8 of an inch thick. Synthetic handles are preferred, but I could live with something else. Carbon steel is also preferred. I'd also like to keep the cost under $100 cause, lets face it, we're all tight for cash. I figured, hey, why not ask some of the smartest guys I know! So..can you help me out?

Google 'Crowell & Barker Competition knife' and see what you find. You can buy one new from A.G. Russell for $130.00. Might find one for $100 or less for sale out there. It's a good knife for the money.

How 'bout the Spec Plus line by Ontario? The SP5 looks like a Marbles Trailmaker with a modern handle. Way under $100 shipped.

The Russell and The RTAK are nice, but they are a bit out of the "Classic Bowie" style. They have drop points and lack a crossguard. The Ontario is about what I'm looking for, but I wanted to try and get something even bigger...
