Does anyone know of a bowie with the following characteristics that is easily available in the price range, New or used, of $250.00 or less?
Large scales, handle suitable for big hands
BIG blade of at least 10 inches
Uncoated blade - not black
Plain edge no serrations
Somewhat reminiscent of "Western" bowie would be a bonus

Thanks in advance.

Check out the Svord Von Tempsky Bowie, it sounds like it may be a good option
I desperately want to whack one of those around but I can't justify the cost given how little I use the big fixed blades I already own. It does seem to check all the boxes.

The marbles ( made by imicasa/ condor in El Salvador ) bowie is a fairly classic early Bowie shape, though it doesn't resemble the western w49.
It also has an orange coating on it, but it's only 14$ so it's perfect for modifying.
It may not be exactly what you want as it comes, but has some real potential.
There's also the Ontario Old hickory 14" butcher that could be modified to look like a Bowie, though many mountain men and frontiersman carried knives just like this back in the first half of the 1800's.

I'm sure someone will be able to recommend something that fits the bill perfectly, but projects are fun and so these 2 options are worth a look.

If you don't need it in the next week or so, you can always contact a knife maker here and get exactly what you want. I've had two "semi" customs made here. I also have big hands and asked for a longer and fatter handle.

Cold Steel Trail Master is what I thought of first. I'm not up on the bowie style.

I haven't road tested one of these but the specs are a wow, MTech MX 8070.
Probably the Hyundai of big Bowies but it's on my radar for sure. Decent sheath too so I am told.
"440" steel, lol.

You are welcome. Mineral Mountain looks like they use 5160 spring steel tuff metal there and kydex sheaths.
I found them on a web search just now, their survival Bowie has palm swells which I like alot, I think my wallet is getting thinner!
Good luck in your search man, let us know what you do!

+1 on the Becker BK-9; you'll love the handles and some folks strip and/or strip and polish their Beckers.

They are carbon steel (1095 CroVan) so a protective coating of mineral oil or other selection is a good idea - as is keeping clean and dry as much as possible. Great knife with very comfy handles.

Cold Steel Natchez. However, its got a cable tang. Personally I would reccomend saving up and getting some custom like these two I recently purchased. Both were in the $300 range and came with really nice leather sheaths. Both hand forged too.

Based on your pre-requisites, the closest ones would be the Cold Steel Natchez or Laredo, readily available for about $150. But they don't have handle scales; they're hidden tang construction. Or the Linder Crocodile Bowie, about $180, which is again hidden tang but very nice.

If you insist on handle scales, the only ones I can think of at 10 inches plus blades are TOPS Steel Eagle and Armageddon. Those are under $200. Steel Eagle is available in 11 inch blade length, but it has saw teeth on top of spine. TOPS makes all of their big knives with handle scales and they will certainly fit big hands. Oh one more, Ontario RTAK II is a big knife with handle scales and it's only about $90. TOPS and RTAK II are more modern style bowies, without the clip point and without proper guards.
