hi Ryan...the steel is Aogami Super Steel by Hitachi...whatever that means. but it doesn't have the "AS" on the blade...so it could be just aogami.

chemical composition:

C=1.40~1.50, Si=0.10~0.02, Mn=0.02~0.03, P=0.025~or less, S=0.004~or less, Cr=0.30~0.50, W=2.00~2.05, Mo=0.30~0.50, V=0.30~0.50
