Big Bowies..

One way or another we can argue if my tossing that huge bowie into a log a few feet away was abuse or not. But I dont think it hit any harder then I could of stabbed it in. Even if it did it's A FULL 1/4" THICK. come on guys. If this was an mtech or a bear grylls everyone would be right with me calling it trash. But since its a popular company people tend to blame the user.

People blame the user cause there are literally hundreds of people who have taken out and put the SP10 through all kinds of abuse with no issues.

Well maybe I got a bad one. Fact is for it to bend like that under such a small amount of force is ridicules. And I can tell you that I've easily been able to stab knives much deeper into wood then that knife was sinking so we might as well take the fact that it spent half a second and 2 feet with no hand on the handle right out of the equation. It would have happened from stabbing it hard into something too. Either way something is seriously wrong with a knife to take a bend like that and keep it. Say what you will about cold steel's propaganda videos but they bend their knives in a vise with a pipe and they return to true. Is that abuse? Sure. Do I consider a few quick flips into a log abuse when its done to a knife thats supposed to be a big heavy duty blade? No I don't. If I missed, hit a rock and the blade chipped, abuse. If I pryed open a locked door, abuse. But esentially a standard downward stabbing force causing the blade to take a bend and keep it. That my friend is an inherent weakness in design or manufacture. Its that simple.

Just for the hell of it I'll try and cut the handle off when I get a chance so we can see just whats going on under there.

I have had that knife for a long time. So it is an older marine raider. I did not use it much until the day I was out in the woods with it so it wasn't a weakening over time. Maybe in the years since I got it they've beefed up the design or changed the heat treat or something. But honestly guys I take good care of my stuff and I wouldn't have ever put this knife through something I didn't think it could handle. Ive got pretty much all my knives from when I was a kid to now. And I've asked of them pretty much the same tasks. And this one for whatever reason failed and failed miserably.

this cold steel marauder is pretty nice, esp with the top guard and sub-hilt finger grip thing removed. am thinking i will remove Krayex handle and replace with steel guard and leather washers. the marauder is not a pry bar like the Trailmaster, yet thick enough for knife work, and a really handy weight for carrying. The 9" blade should be really nice for concealed carry in a Southern Comfort kydex sheath.
