Seeing this beautiful classic has made my day

The big boys aren't for everyone, but they are a hoot to shoot from time to time. Continuous practice (say for hunting) can be painful. Glad you are enjoying your revolvers.

I like DA 22 revolvers the most, but I have stuff up to 475 Linebaugh.

Have you guys seen the 45/70 Derringer before ?
From what I can tell in the videos, it's recoil makes the S&W 500 seem like a .357.

I've shot a single shot, hammer fired rifle in .45/70, and I can't imagine it in a derringer. It packs quite a wallop.

I've shot the .500 S&W, and it wasn't nearly what I expected.

Due to arthritis, I don't shoot snub or "snappy" type rounds anymore, which is why I switched from .40 to 9mm. .45 doesn't bother me, just expensive.

I'm no longer a fan of the big handgun rounds, though there will always be a soft spot in my heart for the .475 Wildey Magnum.

Heck if you're gonna be a bear might as well be a grizzly, a .700 Holland and Holland double rifle by Butch Searcy.

Had a .454 Freedom Arms. 10" barrel in the Premier grade. I ran a box of shells through it and decided that was enough. Beautiful firearm. Wish I had kept it after I saw what they are selling for now. I think I payed around 700.00 for it. It was just way more caliber than I needed. So was the LAR Grizzly. Had a number of .44 S&W's - down to a custom shop 7.5" midnight black with a full lug and Hogue grips. Really shoots nice with the lugged barrel.
