Big Brother Review

Sweetness. :D

Good stuff, all the way around.

Mingo, keep that left leg back when you are swinging, put your right leg forward instead. That BB is awesome, but it would be alot less awesome stuck in your leg. :D

really have to have some safety threads going :)

even better, also add: draw from left to right, harder to swing into yourself.

beware deflections, those will ruin your day. visualize your follow through. etc.

it would suck to get knee surgery :) well, the pictures would be awesome...

Wasn't digging the serrations on the back. True, if they were to be anywhere they'd not be on the main cutting edge. But i often put my thumb there for, a lot actually.

Agreed. My son and I got to handle one of those the other day. It's a cool knife and looks mean - just not digging the saw teeth.

Do the serrations actually work on wood? Are they back and forth teeth or just a pull cut? Is Mingo a forest elf? Does she fit in a backpack? If I let her ride on my shoulders will she cook for me when I am outdoors?

The serrations are sharp and cut, that would include wood. Yes Mingo is an elf, the hair just covers up the ears. I guess she would fit in a pack but then again with a big enough pack we all could. Mingo only rides on one persons shoulders and no she won't cook for you.

Serrations = sweet
Elf = awesome, thought so
Backpack fit = very useful
Won't cook for me = bummer, a fat man needs to eat ya know

Well, I know Toooj had a hand in it, plus some guy that works there has the final say on new "KABAR" designs.

Octav,

The concept designers were Kuya Doug Marcaida and Ed Alberto of SEIGE, an FMA Group from Rochester, NY. (look at rochesterkali.com)The Filipino Marines and USMC go back a long ways. Both groups would trade off knives. Being in the jungle, the Filipinos wanted a larger version of the tried and true F/U knife. They would get local makers to forge them up larger versions of the F/U and call them "Big Brothas".
Kuya Doug teaches knife skills to the Filipino Marines along with other Spec Ops Groups. So he knows them and their knives well. He is the real deal. Any hoo, They visited KA-BAR; They showed us a sample; We liked what we saw; Toooj morphed the samples into a manufacturable knife and a good idea is being sold.
Saw teeth are more important to them than a batoning spine. So that's the logic of the back.
Hope this helps.
