Here's my latest machete design.. basically a really big knife.. :rolleyes:
It's made from 15n20 (high nickle 1084ish steel).. which will resist staining a bit more than usual..
It's .095" thick, which I think is about perfect for a machete.. sails through inch thick branches without really any difficulty..
Blade is full convex, with a convex and polished shaving sharp edge.
The handle is some nice micarta, the center pin was peened in hot, so there's a little discoloration around it.. but no big deal..
Believe it or not, I don't have any measuring device on me, so the blade is right around 14" with 4.5" of handle. The blades about 2.5" thick at its widest..

Thanks! I made it with the goal in mind of making a handle as comfortable as possible while still holding the lines of the rest of the blade.

The pictures leave a bit to be desired.. and I forgot to mention the blade finish is a workhorse satin :)
If anyone is intimidated by sharpening the convex, or if they just want it real sharp.. I sharpen up all my blades free of charge provided the buyer pays the shipping both ways :)
 
Nice one, Kenon! I'm just heading out to review your other two right now. I can tell just by looking that this one has improved ergonomics... you're evolving quickly man!
 
not for the price shown, I can make one for it for an additional amount, leather for another 70$, or kydex or something price depending.
 
Nice! It's great to see another maker working with 15N20-one of my alltime favorite steels. Edge retention is phenomenal, as is corrosion resistance (for a hc blade anyway).
 
Thanks! 15n20 is certainly not as popular as it should be, nice stuff. you can bend this machete nearly 90' and it will snap back to straight.. any more and it will just get a slight curve that can be corrected easily with a bend the other way
 
Why is this knife still around? Awesome price for a sweet knife. :thumbup:
