I just got off the phone with a supervisor for one of the slope corporations. I've just been hired to go to the North Slope. I'm to work in a position as a field apprentice, three weeks on, three weeks off, $18 an hour. All the overtime I can stand.

Criminy guys...I'm still shaking and I have a lump in my throat. It's almost a bit overwhelming. We've been wondering how to make house payments and living off beans for the past couple months.

Now it seems I have a lifetime opportunity before me, if I can hold up to the work. I'm basically a busted all to hell 32 year old guy trying to do a 20 year olds job. dang...I just popped my shoulder as I was typing this, sounded like a .22 short going off in the house.

I can't remember the last time I've been this excited and nervous at the same time.

I'm thrilled to have this opportunity, and at the same time, I'm terrified I'm gonna blow it.

wish me luck, eh?

Congrats! and best wishes! :)

See yourself doing fine and you will. Sounds corny as heck I know, but it does work!

Great good luck and congratulations.

And of course you can do it- working outdoors, great money. And just a few short hours of pushin' that broom and you got a K31 and all Alaska to go shootin' in.

Lucky guy.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words.

It seems my recent run of crappy luck might be ending.

Yesterday, I had a guy give me an entire truck load of ammunition, brass, bullets, parts, and a .357 revolver cause he's leaving state and they didn't sell at a garage sale. :D

Today I get the job....

Pretty nice, I gotta admit, even though I am still looking for the sucker punch...

No matter how hard you try, you can only live now.

Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.

It'll be fine.

32 doing a 20 year olds job ? I should be so lucky , That sounds great . I know it will work out just fine . Work hard but don,t break your back that won,t do anyone any good . That sounds like a great opportunity for you and your family .

hey yah, good luck! bring a khurki or two, and some knives you made, sell them to your new pals. bring the motrin and the bayer back medicine - you might ache, but you'll get stronger. don't kill yourself. lift from the knees... :) wear a hat.

Good luck bro. You're one of the good guys, and you deserve it. Isn't it a great feeling inside when you finally catch a break. I'm 33, and hoping for mine soon. So tired of just skating by, and having no direction. I talked to a guy this week and have an interview setup next week!!! Holding my breath as we speak. At least you're at the breathing time again. Congrats again Bro.

That's normal and natural, and just tells me that company wisely hired a conscientious man. A few months from now, when you're walking tall and kicking a$$ with both feet, you'll look back and wonder what all the fuss was about. Git 'r done hoss, best of luck to you.

Good on ya bro! 32 is young. You'll toughen up quickly, and as you learn the work an find out the easy ways to do things you'll be fine!

Good luck.
