Going postal with a single action revolver? puuhhllleeeaazzzze!!
I've got more style than that...of course it would have that retro-charm...hmmm.....
I went to "orientation" today, which didn't tell me a helluva lot of anything, but I am piecing bits of information together and getting an idea what to expect.
From what I understand they're insanely safety conscious, and will darn near can ya' for stubbing a toe. A couple guys have told me it's nothing like the a$$holes and elbows dirt slinging, jackhammerin' brutal 90 + hour weeks I've done in the past. It sounds like the tendonitis, trick knee, and badly healed broken bones and ligaments won't get a chance to play a factor. Might even save up enough money to get them fixed!!!
My duties will include but not be limited to, helping the welders, building scaffolding, running a front end loader, stacking supplies, working and running a shop, etc. Literally the jack of all trades, which is really exciting to me, kinda makes me feel like all the years I've spent working in all my different jobs and fields are finally paying off. Also say that there's a chance of OT (Right now I'm looking at three weeks on, three weeks off) It'll be my first summer EVER I've ever done anything but work. I's gonna git ta' go campin' an' fishin', an' hikin', an' huntin'.....

I'm still a bit wrought up, but not pukin' nervous or nuthin'.
There are lots of foxes up there, and the ocassional polar bear sighting. I'll be working way, way, way up North....I'll almost be on top of the world! really....I'll be at Milne Point here:

They say it's warming up real nicely right now, average temps of ten below to zero.
Once again, I appreciate the encouraging words from everybody. They really have had a positive impact. Thank you.
Andy, know whatcha mean (skating by, no direction...you have no idea how closely I can relate!) ...I'm thirty two now, and I'm still not real sure what to do when I grow up! I'll be wishin' ya' the best of luck in your interview!
John Galt- Past April first...that's an ironic statement... You're right though, February through March are always the most brutally tough months for us, and then as soon as April hits, it seems like the storm finally breaks.
