The Heafner model 17 in cryo treated D2 is an excellent camp knife/chopper!! Blade thickness is 9/32" at around 8" long.

Slaytanic, where can a person find more info and possible purchase one of those beauties (Heafners)??

Why not a bench made knife?

Try David Wesner, here's a chopper he recently made for me, it's 5/16" thick, a little over 2" wide and has a 10" blade, plenty of chopping power:

Hello, Ken Heafner is the maker of those brutes, his website is currently down but he's still making great knives!! His knife business & home # are the same, so call before 10p.m. Eastern Time(He's in NC) Ph.# 1-336-349-1155 Ken's a great fella to deal with and also has some very nice utility/hunting/fillet knives in his line. BTW - the handles come plain, not textured or grooved etc....I did the handle mods on the three in the pic. Here's a link to a great review that was done on it: http://www.cutleryscience.com/reviews/heafner_bowie.html
I would love to see how it would do in Noss's hands

Darrell................ Post some pics if Ya pick one up :)
