Just stumbled across on here about Big Chris Custom Knives by Chris Berry, does he have a website? I just read about the Keppie in v90 steel by crucible steel, it said on the post here that it has a good percentage of Vanadiaum, any info on that steel too?

Chris is an awesome dude. Very friendly, trustworthy, and fast. He always uses top notch materials and isn't afraid to work with high end steels that are tough to grind. His knives are the sharpest out of the box Ive ever seen from any maker or manufacturer. Absolutely unreal edges.

Another +1 on Chris, I bought a CPM-10V kephart fixed blade from him, and he's just about finished a custom order I designed and he's bringing to life in CPM-3V. I plan to have him make me another 3 at least for me as well in steels very few will work with (bushcraft in 10V, Drop point in S110V and Chopper in 3V). The Kephart I already have from him came extremely sharp, with a very comfortable handle, excellent quality.

As far as the steel you mentioned, I'm guess you mean CPM-S90V, of which there is quite a bit of info around here on it, but as for the basics, its a very high wear stainless, very few production knives are made with it, almost all that have have been short sprint runs by spyderco, although they now the Spyderco Phil Wilson Southfork as a regular production knife (also on my list of to buy knives). It will be difficult to sharpen, but it will hold an edge a very long time, (longer than M390, M4, ZDP-189).

Chris made me an S90V blade of my own design that I'm currently putting some handle scales on. He is not afraid to grind these tough and wear-resistant steels (and he must go through a TON of belts for his grinder!) and is doing more in-house heat-treats. He used and probably still uses Peter's heat treat for some blades, but he nailed the heat treat on the one he made me and I can't wait to put it to good use.

Like it was said before, he is quick, reasonably priced and the blades I've seen appear very well made. Mine is wonderful and excellent work for a hand-made knife. Give him an email and have him whip something up for you. Just looking at the blades he has made ought to give you an idea if what he makes will suit you.

For info on S90V, check out some youtube videos where folks are actually putting their knives to the test cutting cardboard, rope and even truck tires. Do a search on the testing forum too. If you are looking for a cutter and not a prybar, S90V might be a good choice. If you need something on the tougher end of the spectrum, check out 3V. Chris uses both.

I have seven of his knives. As you could tell, I am a fan. He really takes advantage of the super steels he uses, very thin, insanely sharp edges that slice like no other. I have 5in 3V, one in 10V and one in S90V. I love the S90V knife I have, I haven't had any issues with staining and it's holds and edge VERY well. I finally got it dull a while back and after a few minutes stropping it was back to hair popping. If you are looking for an affordable slicer that holds an edge for a really long time, you can't beat one of Chris's knives in S90V. Another big plus is his customer service... It may just out do his knives.

I have a few of his knives. They are nice. Sharp! I'll keep that part short and sweet.

Instead I'll talk about his customer service. He let me call him before one of my buys and discuss a few questions I had. His advise helped guide my own research. Two times he delivered post buy technical support. You not only get a knife from Chris, you get no-questions-asked customer service. He really does love what he does. I would deal with him again.

Oh yea. His handles are the coolest. Enough said.

I like the Big Chris knife I received from him, overall a great knife for the money. I have not had the chance to use it yet but hope to here shortly.

I recommend BC knives also.
I have a 19" overall length chopper in 3v
and an EDC in 10v both made by Big Chris and I use them all the time with pleasure.
Chris is a great guy with no hidden agenda.
You just need to know what you want.:)

Solid working knives at a good price point.

Makes a lot of knives from 3V, which is one of my favorite steels.

I have four big Chris blades. A s90v boning, 10v kephart, cpm 154 drop point and a stretched out jager model in s90v. One thing I have to bring up is, he knows his blade geometries of the slicing variety. His knives actually cut and really make those super steels shine. One day I would like to post some pictures and do a review.

Clean, simple designs that work. I love his knives. Like many have said, he brings a whole new level to "that thing could cut you just by looking at it."

2 of my most treasured modern choppers are Big Chris Filipino Twins - The Barong and Bolo.
It seems that he knew at heart how to make them right and tough. I just couldn't get enough!

He makes beautiful knives with very ergo handles and often do just a bit more for surprise. His work will light you up like a X-mas Tree.
