Knife is now SOLD! Thanks to all and to bladeforums.

Here is a rare opportunity to pick terrific big damascus bowie by Steve Filicietti.

This knife features a clip point blade of some 11 1/4" in length, with an overall length of 17". A no-excuses, full-size bowie. The damascus blade displays a mesmerizing pattern - there is almost a liquid quality to the large swirls, pools and whirls - like a stream flowing over a rocky bed. The blade is highly polished, and watching the light play down its length is better entertainment than you'll likely find on TV.

The generous handle is crafted from a real nice piece of box elder burl, with terrific colour and figure. The file-worked fittings are blued mild steel - depending on the ambient light, they can appear dark blue, dark grey, or almost black:

This maker's meticulous attention to detail extends all the way to the nicely file-workd butt cap:

The fit and finish on this knife is superb. The condition is mint. I purchased this knife directly from Steve and while it has frequently been admired, it has never been used. As you probably know, Steve is no longer making knives. His bowies currently in existence are thus finite in quantity. A small handful of examples if his fine work are avialable for sale from reputable purveyors. A quick perusal shows smaller carbon steel bowies offered at $1,200 to $1,600. The only comparable damascus bowie is listed at over $2,500. This knife is available to the first forged bowie fan to e-mail me with an "I'll take it" for US$1,575.00 inclusive of shipping anywhere in the U.S. or Canada. There is no sheath available, but a padded / zippered case will be included.

Payment by U.S. International Postal Money Order (the pink ones), Money Order drawn on any Canadian Bank or wire transfer.

Best of luck,

Roger Pinnock

Knife is now SOLD! Thanks to all!

Incredible Bowie. That is among the most amazing Damascus I've ever had the pleaure to see.The Box Elder Burl is as stated, even more so!The fittings are beyond reproach and in my mind as close to perfect as can be.
Wish I didn't have three others going right now.Incidently,I briefly considered backing out of two commissions to give this one a go,since they haven't actually really been started, but that would be bad form.
Best of luck,Roger. It is perfectly sized,IMO.
Too bad about the makers current status,as his work is phenomenal!

Wow, here's something you don't see every day! A rare opportunity for someone out there, and at a virtual give-away price too.

The knife is now SOLD!

Thanks to all for your comments here and to all who expressed an interest via e-mail.

drf1 - the camera was a Nikon Coolpix 5000 with standard Nikkor lens. I find the pics show the handle and fitings very well, but fall far short of capturing the beauty of the blade.

Now that it is sold, I must admit that I was very curious to see the results of this offer.
I think the bottom line is that the great Damascus and superb execution outweigh Steve Filicietti's poor reputation.

Whoever bought this one, owns a simply stunning blade, imho.

Yes! Doubly so.Congratulations to the new owner, this would be the fine cornerstone of any collection.
