Been carrying a 630 for a while but its gotten kind of small for me. Any other bigger folders with quality materials? Something a little bigger and as tough.

If the Camillus CUDA MAXX 5.5" isn't big enough for you, there's always the MAXX 7.0".

Planterz has it right. Can't get much bigger than the Camillus 7" Maxx right now.

I have both of the Camillus CUDA MAXXs and I can tell you that they are both huge and can scare the Hell out of people. I think that the CUDA MAXX 7" is, perhaps, overdoing it by a bit. I haven't made up my mind yet. It does, however, carry very nicely in my right front pocket.

They make some of the BIGGEST folders I have ever seen!!

I second the Vaquero Grande. It is hard to tell from the pictures of these Cold Steel Classics just how big they really are. This pic of my four faves has been reduced in size but even still the knives are imposing. That big Vaquero Grande is one of the most abused knives I've owned. I actually lost that one on my property and it set out in the elements for 4 months before I found it one day long after giving up. It has a couple of spots on the blade and it doesn't have the snap it once had when it closes but it still locks and functions great considering what it went through.

That thing is 13 and 3/32" long from end to end. My favorite one is the Large Vaquero though as it is an older one before the serration pattern was changed by Cold Steel. You can hardly tell the difference from the picture but that one doesn't have the little teeth sticking out like the new ones do that are prone to breaking off like one has on my Voyager in the pic. (the clip point blade) At 11 and 3/32 " long it is pretty imposing too.

As far as big folders go I think these are some pretty tough candidates for even the most abusive owner.

The X2 Voyager and Vaquero Grande are my favorite large folders. great bang-for-buck value, and the X2 Voyager is particularly easy to sharpen. Holds a great edge, and stays sharp for a long time.

I like my CUDA Maxx also, but the factory edge wasn't all that great, so now I have to buy Spyderco Diamond hones to give it the right edge. Solid construction, but the edge wasn't there. But I'll get it sharp in no time.

Man, you've got bigger pockets than I do :D That knife should be sold as a short sword!

Not only are they big, but like the Camillus Maxx, they are sleek, and fit in a pocket nicely. Even a small hand can hold them comfortably.

Be careful with that X2 Voyager though. I found it cannot take the beating the Vaquero Grande will, even though it looks so much like it -- exactly the same handle and blade steel. The hollow grind is weaker than the VG's flat grind.

rs422, thanks for the picture -- great comparison! The Aftermath really swallows up that Skirmish.

STR, that's a great picture also. I use a VG chopping off branches along our nature trail, for years now. It's amazing that it holds up so well. It's pretty comfortable, too, no hotspots.

Sorry about that. That D2 is not easy to reprofile. But once you get it sharp, it will hold the edge. I keep one in the kitchen for food prep and general household utility. It is definitely a big favorite.

It's amazing how well the Cuda Maxx 5.5 fits in the pocket. It's less noticable than many shorter but thicker knives. Although I had a bad initial experience with the Cuda Maxx line, it was due to bad luck, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

How about the Mooremaker Micarta Monster. It's closed length is 11.5". Ok, so it's a novelty, but dang...:D

that Max 7 is a monster, it is like a short sword in your pocket!

When you wrote "quality materials" I automatically eliminated all FRN handled knives. An injection molded handle is not high quality when compared to exotic woods, micarta, G10 or titanium.

There are several customs that are bigger than the Benchmade 630:

Blackwood Skirmish (The 630 is just the mini version  )
Hossom/Mayo Phallussy
Onion Habu
Draper Big Sabra
Mayo Beefy TNT

I can't wait to get my Timascus handled Skirmish. ;)

Jerry Hossom is working with Ontario to produce factory versions of the Phallussy. I think they will be very popular. I read the blade steel will be CPM 3V which is the best blade steel available IMO.

Edit: Jerry's folder blades will be CPM S30V. Sorry for the mistake.
