Richard J sent me some photos of the chopper that he is making for me.
Presently, he is calling it Big Freddie and you can see why.:D

Remember that part of the proceeds from any knives that richard j sells are going to help his friend Frosty who is fighting cancer.

Holy crap! Just in time for Halloween. :D

Some real interesting geometry there. Be interesting to see how it performs.

tonight i was going through 3" maple limbs repeatedly in one whack with little effort. i let a friend give it a try and he said its a beast for sure.

that thing is soo cool! i might eventually be interested inone with a slightly smaller head and a longer handle.

the thickness is 3/16" it weighs around 2 pounds but i'll have it weighed so i'll know for sure. i have a smaller blank that i'm going to put a long wood handle on. each one i make will vary in size depending on how many pieces i cut from a disc and whats left over. i'm not worrying much about the finish but i will clean the steel up as much as possible. there are some grooves from the disc hitting rocks that might not come out but its just cosmetic.

today i went out to a friends and chopped some oak limbs that were about 3"-4" with no problem. i went through a 6" piece in under a minute later in the day.

Good grief that thing is huge:D That should do all the chopping you need. LOL Great job Richard and sharp eye you are getting one big chopper:thumbup:

Holy moly. I'm dying to see what you think of the performance!!

macgregor22 chopped on some red elm and had a smile on his face after trying it out. he said i was onto something with my design.

I'm wondering about the balance. Does it feel right chopping? I'm not trying to be critical, just asking. If it feels good, geez what a chopper.
