I attended a show in Asheville, NC this week end and these are a couple of knives that are left over. It seems that smaller knives sell best at shows.

Both knives are forged from 1/4 inch 5160
Flat grinds with a machine (Scotch Bright belts) finish
Distal tapered tangs and blades
The larger knife measures 13 1/2 inches with an 8 inch blade. Handle is cocobolo
The smaller knife is 11 1/4 inches with a 6 1/8 inch blade. Handle is stabilized spalted and figured maple
Leather scabbards with a belt loop

$260 each includes mailing to the US or Canada. My PayPal account is gldrewknives@gmail.com I will also accept USPS money orders or checks with time to clear.

A couple of more photos.

People have asked for some information about my knife making processes, so in order to be brief I would like to give a Readers Digest version of the steps I take in making forged knives:
I use a gas forge to heat the billets, shaping a knife that takes a minimum of grinding but leaving enough steel to remove scale and decarb.
I often use a hammer of my own design to create a texture along the spine
Heat treating is done with several normalizing and annealing cycles in a Paragon (digitally controlled) furnace and the blades are quenched in an oil designed for steel tool hardening. Over the years I have accomplished methods of creating a blade hard enough to hold a good edge and with a very fine grain.
Tempering is done several times, the number depending on the type of steel
All of my work is done with methods that I have developed with over 25 years of knife making and with coaching from other makers
