There are so many. The Large Heavy Bowie by Ka-Bar or the Ontario SP-10 or the Cold Steel Trailmaster -- what are your thoughts?

Years ago I bought a very large United (el cheapo) Rambo with a leather sheath that says "Rambo III" on it. Boy was that a mistake! I think the steel was 420, but I'm hoping it wasn't 420J2. I was assured it was top quality because it read that it was "Designed by HibbenKnives" on the blade. Wow.

Gill Hibben DID design that knife thats true...He sold the right to make it to United Cutlery...He has nothing to do with the production knives they make

if you want a large heavy bowie style knife on a budget, then the Ka bar is a good knife for the $$$

I have the Large and Heavy Bowie Knife and I think it's outstanding. I also just got the Ontario SP-10 and it also is a good wood splitter. The thing is, these knives are so inexpensive that it's amazing. Also in my collection are two Cold Steel Rajah Is and two Rajah IIs (and don't discount the Rajahs in a bugout situation).

Oh, and other knives I have are a Böker Plus Spearpoint fixed blade and a Smith & Wesson Homeland Security Tanto.

Could you describe the scenario where you would "bug out" please? Thanks in advance.

What is the purpose you intend for the bowie? I have so many, each are unique. Do you mean the most versatile?

Near as I can tell, Pete bugged-out about 12 years ago. Hasn't been back since.

Man, I am so confused and it's only Monday. I don't want to miss the bug out boat...

i have 3 variations of the cold steel trail master.warner moran blackjack, ontario rtakii,2 seki sog sk5 tigersharks, bark river hudsonbay camp knife. and a mtec trail master clone that i beat the hell out of and carry in my car 20 dollars and it holds a decent edge

I think it's kind of funny when people say they have a fixed blade just for their "bug out bag".

Some of us have a lot of fixed blades. That's not weird.

Having a bug-out bag - now that's weird.
