Here's a big hunter I finally gave up on
One of the scales chipped just a little bit by the head of a pin, went ahead and glued it up thinking I'd fill it or grind it out. Then the finish on the blade got messed up after the handle was attached and I had to try and fix that. thought about taking the handle clear off and starting over, but stuck it in the workbench. A year later I decided to get rid of it.
So I touchd up the blade as good as I could (or care too right now) and here it is.
Specs:
3/16" thick O1
Blade is 4-3/4", 9-1/4" overall length.
Handle is cocobolo and really beefed up, fills the hand quite nicely. Has a really nice grain to it that just wouldn't show up in the scans :grumpy: Finished with Danish oil.
Brass pins, and thong hole.
Sportin a little vine pattern filework on the back
And as usual, my mark.
This knife really didn't want to be made, but I guess it turned out alright. Appreciate any comments or ideas. What does everyone think of this pattern?
I made one more out of the other half of this bar of steel for a customer and he seemed to like it but I haven't really done much with it to get any other feedback. Non knife people just tell me "damn thats big" , but its really not
