Bought an 18" Ang Khola as a lark. 32-oz. Kinda fun feeling in hand, but too much of a good thing. Decided to sell it.
Bought a 20" Chitlangi. 31-oz. Didn't like this one because of the pronounced handle ring, plus, also too much of a good thing. Decided to sell it too. But dang, it sure is a stunningly beautiful piece.
Spent a lot of time though gently sanding down the handle ring to make the handle more friendly. The blade was very dull. Was rather surprised because the nine other Khuks I had all came with at least a serviceable edge. So spent a LOT of time with a diamond hone just gently sharpening - and sharpening - and sharpening - and sharpening (you get the idea).
Well, after spending several leisurely hours sanding down the handle ring and putting a good edge on the Chit, a blade whose lines I always liked, I got real attached to the critter. I had planned on selling it. But I really like how it feels now, and although the blade has a spot I just can't seem to get sharp (the blade was unevenly formed there, so is a bit fatter than the rest of the blade, so it won't take an edge as readily), I've developed a huge affection for this one.
It is an exotically beautiful piece, probably the most attractive Khuk I own, and now that the handle feels nice instead of hurtful, I can't wait to try this one out. I think it's become one of my favorites. But of course, it seems all my Khuks are my favorites.
My 18" Ang Khola. Planned on selling this one too. Hadn't hefted it in weeks. Stopped into the armory last night and handled it a moment and that same old silly grin spread across my face again. Yeah, it *IS* too big and too heavy for what I'd use it for, but heck, how can a fella sell off something that makes him grin like kid every time he picks it up. I'll put it in with the base-camp camping gear. Better than an axe and machete combined - plus it's a danged sexy piece!
