BIG knife recommendation for hard use

As suggested above, either a Becker BK-9 or ESEE Junglas (for a bit more money) would be a great choice.

The Junglas is great. Despite the recent threads knocking Esee and their use of 1095, Rowen does an excellent job with this steel and Esee has designed a great knife. The Extras are awesome as well and make the knife an excellent value. The Junglas has one of the best big knife production sheaths I have ever seen.

Hi...need some advice from those of you that have used machete type blades in the field.

I am going be spending a lot of time in the woods in April and May and want a big blade to do some hard use tasks while I am out there.

I don't know much about these types and what I should spend to get a quality built one (doesn't have to be top of the line but I don't want a cheap either).

I have been reading about Kukri's but I just don't know.

I assume many of you will have some input. Thanks!

Seems almost negligent that nobody has mentioned Ethan Becker's original design, the bk4 machax. I think it could be exactly what he's asking for.

I love using mine on tasks around our property.

Busse Combat Killa Zilla.

You will probably find one on eBay and it won't be flea market priced but it will be the ultimate chopper.

Condor Golok. Won't chop better than an axe, but I prefer it to a hatchet for trees up to about 4". In addition, it is devastating to branches and brush up to about 5/8".

Condor Matagi. If you really need to do some heavy chopping, you can attach it to a stick, and put it in Machete mode.

Couple of other y tube vids. Anyway its what I carry now if I want to carry light and not an axe. The base model is less money, but the leather sheath is worth having.
Only place you can get them is here, they are a long established company and will export worldwide:

I did a write up in www.bushcraftuk.com, and those who have them like them.
